you know what? i said it before and i'm sure i'll say it again, and i KNOW this is a very subjective, personal thing for me to say, but:
last year delivered every expectation i've ever had from being a prince fan. if i could go back in time and talk to me at 14 years old and tell myself what would be happening to me in the year 2004, young me would probably have a heart attack and die, so thank goodness there's no such thing as time travel. 
and i'm not just talking about the "close encounters" or the amazing concert experiences - i'm talking about the entire sense of community and feeling like there's something very intimate and genuine that prince and his camp helps foster in his fanbase. last summer was amazingly gratifying to me, and it paid for any frustration or alienation i might have ever felt toward the man in over 20 years of following him and buying his music and making sure to have a blank tape in the VCR whenever his crazy ass came on the television. after last year, really - honestly - everything's gonna be gravy. and i'll gladly sop it all up with a biscuit whenever it arrives. | |

Just like on the Quake and Princefams. you know what, i love you dearly but i'm going to have to disagree with you. this forum was MUCH WORSE in previous years than it has been over the past year and a half. i'm not going to say that when ben brought in me and the others in the "mod squad" that we were able to wave a magic wand and make the org all things to all people. but speaking for myself, i've taken a lot of care to make people think about the things they post. i've deleted a LOT of nonsense from this forum over the past couple of years, and i've challenged a lot of people on the same tired ol' "larry is evil", "prince's new music sucks", "mani is a stalker" kind of crap and hopefully helped some people see things from a different perspective. all of this, PLUS i have to say we've done a great job of respecting the wishes of prince's camp by keeping file-sharing and bootleg trading out of the threads on this forum. i know people who have left the site because i won't let them trash and slander prince they way they'd like. and of course, there are people like you who think that i'm probably TOO lenient with what i allow people to say on this forum. i've made peace with the fact that as a mod, i will NEVER please everyone. all i can do is be confident of my own standards, carry out what i think are the best decisions, and if i make a mistake, hopefully learn from it and move on. i don't think this forum is terrible. it is what it is. i'm sorry you disagree. | |

If you've only visited this forum twice in 10 months or so, and perhaps never visit the other forums, how can you have any perspective on what people are saying here? Not every thread and post trashes Prince, his work, or others around him. There's a wide middle ground between sycophantic fawning and simply trashing. [Edited 11/4/05 10:02am] people are aloud opinions, if i dont like something what am i supposed to do keep my mouth shut? prince has put himself in the public eye - and while some things that are said i find pretty fucked up people are aloud to have opinions about him. that doesnt mean they dont respect him. i think my friends can be little bitches at times. doesnt mean i dont love or respect them, just means i think they can be bitches at times. i think prince should respect us cuz we put him where he is. he doesnt have to give us 10million songs, he doesnt have to kiss our assess, he doesnt have to be our friend, but he should respect us, cuz without us - especially the older fans, where would he be? what would he have?
