ABSOLUTELY one of his best...
The unreleased is KILLER! Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

Yeah I liked the released pretty decently till I remembered about the unreleased and its one of those few Prince songs that no matter how often I play it I never tire of it. "Why'd I waste my kisses on you baby?" R.I.P. Prince You've finally found your way back home. Well Done.

One of my favourites too. I can listen to it over and over again
Now, I know it has been posted many times before, but which version is the unreleased one again? Is it the one with George Clinton? I found it on the internet, it says it's from Crystal Ball? I love it when they start screaming very high, half way the song.

In that version he actually says "fuck" instead of funk and also its him and the revolution playing on it and towards the end he call for Miko. I think Boris had a post on a thread here somewhere that said the one on Graffiti Bridge is the "original" one or something like that because the one he had recorded before he decided to scrap and totally redo or something like that.
I think its even in some of the literature you can find about Prince online the history of both versions. I may have read something about it at quake. I dunno if Boris reads this maybe he'll be nice enough to repeat/restate his info. All I know is I loved the Graffiti Bridge version until I heard the other one and to this day I think it kicks the one on the Graffiti Bridge soundtrack's arse!! "Why'd I waste my kisses on you baby?" R.I.P. Prince You've finally found your way back home. Well Done.

Really, there are several unreleased versions.
One I have is about ten minutes long, with George Clinton doing his bit on it.

the one without George Clinton is much better

man this song is outrageous. I didnt appreciate it when I was little cuz I didnt "get it".
But now man that song has one of the best longest Prince screams ever. Listen closely when the climax comes on about the last minute..Prince is screamin his ASS OFF!!! now they have the 1986 version, very haunting and the Linn Drums are OUTRAGEOUSLY loud and funky got daym. Then they have the george Clinton badn one which is aiight..very funkadelic Then they have the Soundtrack version which is extended to about 9 mintues which is just as good as the soundtrack version (it has a verse change though and an added funky guitar). Damn, but this song is hott Straight Jacket Funk Affair
Album plays and love for vinyl records.

I can never listen to the original version with the Revolution without hearing the other two songs in front of it.
Prince mixed the original versions Girl O' My Dreams, Can't Stop (This Feeling I Got) and We Can Funk into a sort of medley, like the first three songs on Parade. After all the projects he wanted to fit these songs into collapsed, he offered them to Three O'Clock, the indie Paisley Park act, but they did not like any of them, so Prince gave them Neon Telephone. Then Prince re-worked/re-recorded the last two track and fit them onto Graffity Bridge. We Can Funk certainly is the most tinkered with song of his bootlegged material. I think like six or seven different versions exist.

"I'll gladly PEE in anybody's cup."
That hurts the song. The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

This is one of THE best, I TOTALLY agree.
I actually heard the unreleased version by mistake once, when I had mistakenly borrowed a cassette from a friend of mine and it was actually the wrong casette.....and then it turned out to be so many AMAZING songs by Prince. I love the beats in that song and they way it sounds so erotic. "When I want to hear good music, I write it myself"

Lots of Prince's lyrics are childish. "Head, til your love is red" ??? The P in anyone's cup of course refers to testing positive for the funk. The peeing in anyone's cup is just a part of that. I never thought it was anything but fun.

I like the demo like one without Clinton miles better than the ones that followed, (and I'm not talking about the revamped revolution one from '86 that is usually following "Can't Stop".)
The clinton ones always sounded too crowded to really catch me, except, I do love the final part on all versions. But all in all, I like the revamped Revolution one better form '86, where he calls out Mico. It sounds like somtimes he says fuck, and sometimes he says funk on that one.
