What is the title of this track? I am sure it is a line originally composed by Prince but I don't know the title.
Play/Download the compressed song (2 and half minutes): http://rapidshare.de/file...p.mp3.html or 2 short (about 10 seconds) clips here: http://riceandsoup.4t.com/music I can send you the complete sequence 1.5MegaByte version by email. This material was played by Praxis (Buckethead, Bill Laswell, Brain, InvisblSkratchPiklz, DJDisk, Q-Bert) live at Zurich JazzNoJazz Festival 06/21 1996, not released officially. It's from a bootleg source. What do you know about this? Check also http://www.mangfall.privat.t-online.de [Edited 10/21/05 2:19am] [Edited 10/21/05 9:19am]

To me, it's just a rhythm track. Only bass, drums & scratches. I hear no recognizable melody. So it's hard to say if Prince was the composer.
I do own the first Praxis record (with Bernie & Bootsy). Great album, if you're in the mood for it!! jazzz

Yes, the Praxis is great, both studio and Transmutation live. By *melody* I meant the chain of tunes played by the bass. The DJ's scratching effects are probably also taken from the original song.
Unfortunately the available web space is small, so the clips have to be short. Let me mail you the 2 minutes version. Can I upload the 1.5megabyte somewhere here? jazzz said: To me, it's just a rhythm track. Only bass, drums & scratches. I hear no recognizable melody. So it's hard to say if Prince was the composer.

The first sample reminds me the "Days Of wild" bassline
