Why did Prince record Nepowersoul?

like that, and not the one on The Work?

Maybe he's referring to a different version of the song on The Work, a bootleg anthology of Prince's unreleased music. Perhaps an alternate version exists, though I've never heard of it.

Probably, but which NPS is he talking about? The track on Exodus or then title track of NPS? I don't have The Work because Liberation201 butchered the songs by "remastering" them and I aleady had 99% of those songs, so I don't know which one is on it.

I believe the question is why did Prince leave the microphone on during the recording sessions of NPS.

An even better question is how drunk/high was he when he approved the album cover of NPS.

I love that they gave out free posters of the album cover with a purchase of the CD. It is the only Prince poster I have ever had that I never hung up anywhere.
All good things they say never last...

I imagine he's talking about the NPS from Exodus.

DaX, one imagines you don't have the 2nd NPG album, Exodus, which also includes a track named New Power Soul, a completely different instrumental track, of which there is a circulating alternate version, from an earlier config. of that LP.

It's not officially a Prince release, it's credited to the NPG, and thus should be considered correctly as the 3rd official NPG album, following Exodus and Gold Nigga.

Of course, Prince taking all lead vocal duties and appearing alone on the CDs cover does this official line much injustice.

Thank you for saying out that loud. If I want distortion in my music I'll play it through a ProCo TurboRat, but those versions were just disbelief

It is a great album but you really have to hear some of the songs live because they just don't come off too well with lousy production.
