Last year, he was seen at various performances wearing some sort of flat-heel boot rather than the usual heels. For example, on the Much More Music performance. So it appears he is already doing this. Is it cool? I think he manages to look cool in whatever he wears.

Even with the risque of being a total jackass it is kinda funny, because I've never seen this kind of condition been reported on a celebrity woman. how many celebrity women do what Prince does in high heels for 20+ years? Splits, jumping off pianos, running, etc.?? I've never seen, for instance, Kylie in flats. And some women, well you know, wear'em all through their lives everywhere (props and kudos 4 'em seriously). But it's not just that those motherfuckers are unhealthy they are totally the last thing you should wear if you have any stability issues with your body structure. For instance having feet of different length and so on. I wanna see Prince in combat boots.

I have yet to see an official denial that he is experiencing some difficulties. It was stated only that he is not having surgery and would like to keep the issue private.
See, this is what I say about Chinese Whispers! I don't recall it was ever stated that he 'would like to keep the issue private' - you're just assuming that and adding it on. As for an official response, well it would be nice, but Prince rarely if ever responds to media speculation. If he did that, where would it stop? We'd expect Prince to respond to every little bit of tabloid gossip, and when he didn't bother we'd assume the gossip must be true - just like people are doing now. Hardly any information comes out of Prince's camp at the best of times - it seems strange that something as confidential as medical information has made it's way out, if indeed it has. There's no way of knowing as yet whether this story is true or not. It could well be. But what I find funny is that it was reported weeks ago on this site and no one was that bothered: http://www.prince.org/msg/7/162590 The first mention of this subject I'm aware of was by CJ in her column. Now, most fans don't usually take her 'gossip' seriously. But weeks later when the National Enquirer and then other media took up EXACTLY THE SAME STORY suddenly everyone is taking it seriously - if seven people repeat the same gossip, it doesn't suddenly make it any more true. I wouldn't be that surprised if the 'close source' the newspapers mentions in fact turns out to be CJ! Since Prince wrote a song about her, they probably think they are close or something! [Edited 10/18/05 5:07am] Hi Metalorange, I realize that you don't know me, but I'll thank you not to ASSUME that my statement was not based in fact. FYI, the very first "official" statement was made by PP6 at the club, "If he is or is not having surgery it is a private matter. Please respect that". Perhaps you missed it since it was deleted along with numerous other threads posted at the club on this subject, but I doubt I'm the only one who read it. Second, you ASSUME that I believe the story when I have stated no such thing. If you read my posts you would have seen the words, "IF THE STORY IS TRUE" clearly written. Third, you ASSUME that of the dozens of media outlets worldwide who have now picked up this rumor, not one of them has done any fact-checking whatsoever. How do you know this? Forth, we are simply having a civilized discussion about possitilities. What I do ASSUME is that most on this thread realize that this is all speculation but thanks for pointing it out anyway. Again, I realize that you don't know me, but can we agree that expressing concern and wishing the man well is not a bad thing?? Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

Should P. need a hip replacement I hope he remembers three things:
A. To have it done at the Mayo clinic Rochester Mn (basically the best hospital in the world is around the corner from you) B. To follow the doctor's orders (I enjoyed B.B. King playing guitar sitting down just as much as B.B. King playing guitar standing up) C. You can live with pain, but if you don't have to, don't

Second, you ASSUME that I believe the story when I have stated no such thing.
If you look at my post, I assume no such thing. I merely discuss the issue referring to people in general, not you in specific, and in fact not specifically relating to your post at all other than the above example. Third, you ASSUME that of the dozens of media outlets worldwide who have now picked up this rumor, not one of them has done any fact-checking whatsoever. How do you know this?
I think it is a fair assumption, based on the facts that the there has been no official statements to get facts from elsewhere, that the info in each of the media reports is identical to the first and often use the same quote from the original mysterious source. Forth, we are simply having a civilized discussion about possitilities. What I do ASSUME is that most on this thread realize that this is all speculation but thanks for pointing it out anyway.
The point I was making was that the more reports of the same news fans hear, the more worried they seem to become. This thread is more of a general discussion, but it is clear there are lots of fans who believe this news without examining the facts and realising it is just speculation at this stage. I was merely highlighting the speculation element. That's all just to defend my points. My earlier post was in no way an attack on you, just general observations about the subject at hand.

Prince been cripple...
Ms. Maria from tthe 'Sco has been observing Prince for years...one of Prince's legs is shorter than the other one. That 'pimp walk' is a cripple walk because one leg has to extend further to reach the ground which gives the illusion of sexy sauntering hips. Women walk like that in high heels, because high heels are fucked up... Prince was probably prescribed high heels to correct earlier damage to his hips and back. Yes, he could do the splits ect. Which is another thing I learned about flexible people they can get around some damn pain and albut reconfigure their movements in the slightest way so to not look cripple...I'm telling you Prince back, hips been fucked up. Couldn't you tell? Life my ass muthafuka - this is a bit'ness.

In 2000, he adopted a symbol as his name and insisted on being referred to as The Artist Formerly Known As Prince in a bizarre act of rebellion against his record company.
Ummm....hello????? This alone should be enough to question the credibility of this article, cuz the name change happened in 1993, but he went BACK to being Prince in 2000. Beyond that, I can't believe that there are still some people taking the article serioulsy. Some people need to get a life!

It has been in many (daily) newspapers in Germany, too. In the weekend editions, 10/15, 10/16. And not just in the tabloid press! Seems to be at least more than just a rumour... Why? Because several newspapers have reported it? Is it a case of, if only one printed the story, it's not taken seriously, but when several reprint the same story, it suddenly becomes fact? Which is more likely - a domino effect, where a newspaper sees another newspaper report it, thinks, it must be true if they reported, I think we'll print it too... and on and on...? Or that every one of these media outlets has talked to this mysterious secret source individually to confirm the story? As I've said, I don't know whether the original rumour is true or not - what fascinates me is how the media has an effect on people, the more they see a story, the more they think it must be fact. So many people seem to believe every news story without questioning it or thinking about it for themselves - even though newspapers are regularly taken to court over making unsubstantiated false claims.

it is official CJ bullshit.
the fact that 'the media' copy the story does not matter. did anyone see Prince on crutches lately? Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.
