I want it to sound like it sounds. See, unlike you haters, who only wanna hear Purple Raine revamped and redone each time, I accept whatever he puts out and like it for what is, not what it should be in the fans eyes, or whatever MFBS.

This is 2005, not 1985, ppl. Get a grip on the present.

GRRRRR!

just what is a prince fan? you can like one prince song and be a fan for life...and thats a testament to how awesome his talent is as a songwriter..

if somebody wants another rock album ala Purple Rain let them..who are you to rain on their parade? If you enjoy every single album..great for you. I aint gonna call you a "fool" or say your taste is horrible...im gonna let you enjoy it.

and then we all breath in and breath out.....just like Patsy said, "out with anger..in with love".

It's funny that you mention 1985 because it was that year that he made an album of material that was totally inspired by the 1960s, a decade 20 years earlier. He left the 1980s altogether and, with the exception of covering a few passing trends, he has been living in a time warp ever since.

Yes, it is 2005 and since Prince likes making music that sounds like it came from 20 years earlier, now he can pick up in the 1980s where he left off. That would be one retro trip I would never complain about.

That's what I want too. I'm dying for a new ass shaking song.....hell, by anybody. lol

I'm glad I'm not the only one who wants that. I get sad sometimes when I listen to songs like Sexy Dancer, Let's Work or Automatic cause I really wonder if he's lost his ability to make us dance cause as much as I like Musicology, there wasn't one song on there that made me want to dance. The last song that made me wanna dance from him was Vavoom and that was done somewhere between 1999 and 2001. That's part of why I became a fan. I won't leave if he goes midtempo and ballads only but I just want to see Prince be fun again and I just know that it's got to be there somewhere within. I hope he let's that fun part come out again.

My source is not Prince saying things publicly... It's reliable. I'm sorry I can't say anything else, and I truly cannot.

Just say, "Yeah, G... you're right." when it comes out.

Easy,

This isn't from Prince's "people" either... it's from someone I know and trust, and that's it. I know what you're sayin, but I'm in the music industry, where I'm used to having to know (or find out) who to trust, and who not to.

That's all.

Easy.

The frantic gospel of Everywhere;
The sparse funk of Scarlet Pussy;
The cool jazziness of Venus De Milo.

I'm hoping the lyrics aren't preachy and the guitar solos don't last for more than 30 seconds each.

something creative and funky. and I also think that he wants to have a commercially successful album - why is he shooting all those videos if he's not interested in commercial success. album should have timeless classics (recently - reflection) - doesn't matter if they are rock, funk, r&b or soul (ballads). but I would be very happy if he realesed something like Rainbow Children - this is the album that convinced me he still has plentu of creativity left

he shouldn't repeat himself (I know there is joy in repetition cool ,but....)

but I am afraid he will repeat himself - he tried to do jazz (news, xp, TRC), but Musicology was nothing new.

maybe he should relase 2 albums: first 100% new funky material and 2nd the same album remixed by the best DJs, producers. Hardcore fans would be happy at least with first and second could deliver heavy rotation

What I expect, and what we'll get r 2 separate things. I think that p will be going into more jazz in the coming years. this will enable him to show musicianship, without having to rely on having as much of a stage show. I think that if there were a larger response to the NEWS cd this would be expected. But with all the more recent jam sessions, and the 3121 rumours, I think we'll get something closer to Musicology - with a funkier edge.

ultimately I would LOVE to have p doing jazz/fusion in his later years so that he doesn't come across a some old fart rockstart (ala Rolling Stones).
must be something in the water they drink..

I was listening to Dirty Mind last night and I discovered more of what I'd like from the new album. I'd like it to be more raw and unpolished. The less Prince messes with a song the better. What makes albums from the 80's so special, especially the early 80's albums is how raw the albums were. Even if extra work was needed, it wasn't too much, like Purple Rain. I'll be happy with anything new from him but unpolished is the way to go.

I still want that club banger from Prince too.

Musically, I don´t think he would do nothing innovative, like he did in the 80s.....

Funny, I am very curious about his career now. Musicology was intentionally pop aiming at a more mature audience...and TRC was the opposite...it was very focused on long instrumentals, jazzy mood, with long jams (same thing about NEWS)...at the same time, he said he wouldnt perform his hits live again...hmmm...

Let´s wait and see if he will become totally independent from the pop market (which I doubt) and challenge himself more musically. I am curious...I only hope he avoids corny stuff and writes good music and good lyrics...
