Over the past few days I have been sorting out all my CDs and DVDs, and packing them them up in a carrying case ready for shipping for when we emigrate back over 2 the USA, and anyway, it got me thinking how much I have been duped by Prince over the past few years into buying total rubbish!!!!

Heres the list:

GCS2000
Chaka Khans Come 2 My House
NPS
Rave Unto The Joy Fantastic(including the remix Edition as well)
TRC
NEWS
Musicology
Maytes Child Of The Sun

And there are others 2, plus all the singles that came with all these releases in their various forms!!!

Also, it got me wondering, are u guys like me and feel as though u have been brainwashed by all the hype into buying music that really sucks?????

Not 2 mention the One Night Alone Piano CD as well as the One Night Alone Live CD/It Aint Over Aftershow Box Set!!!

The 'ONA' piano CD and the box-set are both superb in my opinion. As is 'TRC'.

The only one from your list that I really agree with is the 'Mayte' album, which I do not enjoy or listen to.

I like both the Chaka Khan & larry albums, but I guess it depends on how you feel about them as artists and in the production employed on all those releases.

'NPS' I tend to see as a fun, funk album. Nothing to serious, but I enjoy most of the tracks. 'NEWS' is a good quality instrumental album.

I wouldn't say I felt 'brainwashed'. If you stop enjoying the music, stop buying it, but I would state that even the most hardhearted critic would find some real gems on each of those albums (minus the non-Prince one's) you mentioned.

It's always the case with being a fan - you HAVE to hear the music, just in case it's brilliant, but in the end you are sometimes very disappointed and never bother listening to it again.

I wouldn't say duped, though. If you hang back a while and read a few reviews and comments, you get a better idea of what to expect. I wouldn]t say albums like Mayte's were 'hyped' in any way to be better than they actually were!

Prehaps you should think twice about being a fan if you dont like the music, maybe?

I am very much a fan of Prince, but lets just say that I am very "selective" now in what I buy from him. I just prefer QUALITY now!! And as far as I am concerned all of Princes earlier works(mainly from 1983 - 1996) WAS quality!!!

When I first signed on 2 Prince.org I stated my fan level as "Obssessed", now I have downgraded it 2 "Enthusiast" which tells a lot about my feelings for Princes music now!!

Nope! Since Prince nor anyone else can make me do something I don't want to do!

I've never been a Larry Graham supporter, so why would I buy GCS2000, because of the Prince connection, oh please, I don't think so!

I didn't buy Chaka's Come to my house, and I actually like her alot, but the snippets I heard didn't inspire a purchase.

With the exceptions of TRC and NEWS, I purchased and still enjoy the Prince's cd's that are named. TRC wasn't what I was expecting, I should have listened to it before I bought, that was my fault though, because I did know better at the time. As for NEWS, hell Prince had it up on the website, it's ok to listen to, but purchase worthy, ummm no.

As for Mayte's cd, did I purchase it? Hell to the nah, for what? Cause she was married to Prince at the time? Big freaking deal!

If you're feeling duped you've got no one to blame but yourself. I love me some Prince but I'm not whipping out my credit card all willy-nilly just because Prince is selling something.

I know it happened 2 a lot of us around here, so i really understand what u mean. I've also heard these stories of Larry Graham going door 2 door selling Marilyn Manson records 2 some poor dudes who realised, when Larry'd b gone that, in fact, inside the CD box there was an awful Prince CD.
It's a shame that Prince & his crew forced us 2 buy all these ugly funk records against our will: think of all of us who have dozens of unwillingly bought Prince CD's at home!!! It's time we organize & lawsuit Prince!
