And it so almost happened too. Just prior to it's release, Prince was having second thoughts about having Glam Slam as the second single. He'd been working on the remixes for Lovesexy and thought that it would be more suited as the second release from the album. Unfortunately things had kinda gone past the point of no return with Glam Slam, and it was decided to release the single as planned rather than scrapping it at the last minute. Strangely though, when it came time for releasing a third single, Lovesexy had been put aside in favor of I Wish U Heaven, and no more singles were released from the album. Unfortunately the single edit and extended mix of Lovesexy still remain unreleased.

Another example of Prince picking the wrong single "Lovesexy" is a much stronger song than the less-than-thrilling "Glam Slam".

He was still under Warners at the time. I'm sure they were pushing him to go with Glam Slam as opposed to Lovesexy. They did not know how to promote this album. Otherwise, the song is sheer perfection! Lovesexy Funkateer

Should be in mine too. I always forget it, though, for some reason. It's like the invisible track on the album and I'm always surprised when it comes.

It's one of the very best songs! Would have been way better as a single than i wish u heaven! "Man, the living creature, the creating individual, is always more important than any established style or system" - Bruce Lee

I like Glam Slam, but Prince's single choices just defies reason sometimes, Lovesexy is a stellar track, and that extended mix..... well, it's criminal it isn't out there

This feelin's so good in every single way
want it morning, noon and nite of every day... I this track. In fact, I was watching the Omnibus documentary the other day and - during the part where Femi's at the mixing desk - I was thinking how much I wish this had been released as a single. Imagine the video! One of Prince's best title tracks.

I thought Glam Slam was a single
I recall seein' the video so much on BET that I thought it was the single after Alphabet Street. But then again, I'm no prince historian either. I'm sure someone will point out the truth. But I love the song (Lovesexy) especially now more than ever....the line "heaves is just a kiss away" has helped me deal with the death of my mom last year. [Edited 9/9/05 5:24am]

[Edited 9/9/05 5:24am] Glam slam was a single. And the video is very good. Its just a performance video but the vibes the band have got are incredible. Evne the gameboyz are in it. I too love the song "Lovesexy". i get goosebumps sometimes with that song. I always dance to it. I have to be careful, as if iam woalking down the street with my headphones and Iam playing it, i often start dancing. Its a celebration of anything u like. Whatever it was in Prince's mind, it certainly comes across on the song. Very upbeat and smile inducing.

And especially the section that starts: "A-ll in life becomes easier... comeonandtouchitIknowyouwillloveitbutthenIknowheaven'sabutterflykissaway..." If we only get one song as dense, complicated, funky and bawdy as this one on the next album, I'll be a very happy man. I wish he'd play this live.

The production is amazing. It sounds so unique. The instrumentation. I love Prince's "full" sound over his stripped down sound. Which is why I prefer "lovesexy" over "sign of the times". Plus i do generally like Prince's happy songs.
