Martika's Kitchen

Hi. Just wondering if I could get a little insight and opinions on this album.

Especially, what songs were written by Prince and what songs/instruments did he perform on?

I've only heard the version of Prince singing Martika's Kitchen
and before I knew there was a singer named Martika
I thought this was the weirdest Prince track! razz
If you will, so will I

this is an AMAZING album! u should get it, songs like mi tierra, pride and prejidice, a magical place (non prince trax) are really good. i looooove this album. my guess is that prince is playing all the instruments on the songs he wrote (as usual, lol), her first album (self titled) is also really nice, this one has no prince involvment
Yesterday is dead...tomorrow hasnt arrived yet....i have just ONE day...
...And i'm gonna be groovy in it!

I used to love Martika. It's weird that she vanished off the face of the earth(or at least the US) and flippin' Stacy Ferguson has blown up with the BEPs.

This is a great album, definitely worth listening to. "Mi Tierra" is a great Latin workout!

Martika is now in a band called "OPPERA" and are on the same promotional label as my new band Harambe. U can catch both at http://www.panartist.com/oppera

bad link old boy.
Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!

WOW. I'll dig it up again.

I know I'll still love "Magical place" (personal fav- christopher max, the songwriter behind the song, had an overlooked solo album out in 1988. Such a shame he didn't try another album)

That track is awesome. Shaomi is bang on. Naive funky light pop.

And very consistant too. "take me to forever" is about suicide u know. Surprising huh? Very roxette sounding ballads.

for some reason, the demos Prince made for those songs
are among my fav outtakes. sure, they're nowhere near
the level of "Old friends 4 Sale" and such but they're
simply great pop tunes with nice melodies and drive.

they always make me smile when I listen to them. biggrin
and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

Speak up
Tell me what U want {x2}
Alright!
(Yeah!) {repeated throughout song}

U want me 2 what?
Yo, what?
Alright!

I won't be number 5 and I won't be number 4
Cuz baby I'm the fiercest on all the dance floors
My main name is Power cuz this is what I got
If U try 2 love another? Huh, I think not!
I won't be number 3 and I won't be number 2
Look at this body baby and don't U be no fool
I'll be your number one or I'll be nothing at all
