I thought that this scan of this particular review is deserving of it's own thread just because of the time and trouble it's been through to place it before you today. A kind lady called Roxie Pletcher ( www.roxiemae.com ) sent me this newspaper, which featured Prince on the front cover as well as a review of when the Purple Rain tour hit Indianapolis in April 1985. Because of the Katrina disaster etc, we feared it may have gotten lost or mislaid in the post - until luckily, it turned up today.

Because I have a reasonably small scanner, large format magazines, broadsheet newspapers etc, are very problematic to scan - so I have to piece them together by scaning bits of them at a time at high-resolution and then attempting to match them up like a jigsaw. This may sound easy, but trust me, it's trial and error, a little luck, and lots of patience.

Not that you'd be able to notice, but the front cover is actually made up of six individual scans alone. The two newspaper pieces you now see below actually took me most of this afternoon to get right - there's no point if you can see how it's done, right? As the saying goes, if a job's worth doing - it's worth doing well. I have also added the latest fresh scans I uploaded to the gallery today too.

But can I ask all of you guys who view this thread, to simply post your thanks to Roxie for letting us have this. (She was a more than a little surprised to find out that this old newspaper could actually be of some use and be preserved for thousands of Prince fans around the globe to enjoy) It's a little bit of history that could have so easily been binned after 20 years.

So please, take 10 seconds out of your day to show her your appreciation here.

PS: If anybody is interested in obtaining this newspaper (it is complete and in very good condition) and would like to make a decent offer for it, all monies will be donated on behalf of the Org directly to an appropriate Katrina Relief Fund where it can be used to its fullest extent (believe it or not most of the bigger charities cream a fair percentage off for 'administrative costs') I am also prepared to include a rare 8x10 photo of Prince from my own collection too. So... who wants to start the bidding? ...Do I hear 10?

Oh my god, those clippings bring back memories...I was there! It was my first Prince concert, and the first concert I'd ever been to in my life!

I totally remember getting the newspaper the day after the show and clipping those stories...I'm sure they're in a footlocker at my mom's place somewhere, but I haven't seen them in years...very cool!

Excellent! Thanks to the both of you My father works the swap meet circuit and he is always bringing me old magazines and newspapers and records and posters of Prince. Most of the stuff has been in excellent condition

And you couldn't tell that you had to piece the scans together. It looks excellent Thanks Roxy for submitting the paper so we could all enjoy, brings back memories of a 14-15 year old Supa alone in his room rockin out to Prince music
