June 1 in Prince history - Come (album version premiered) Thoughts on the album version of Come vs. the electronic version? Or the early version (sounding like the live versions)?
I like 'em all - all a distinctive sound. I'd love to hear a clear soundboard copy of the live-sounding version.

I like the live version. It's funky.
The electronic version does nothing for me and I don't understand how people could like it over the album version. The album version is definitely the best. It's jazzy. It's the freakiest. The horn arrangement rocks. It's another one of his 10 minute plus masterpieces along with Crystal Ball and the REAL version of Computer Blue. Hmmm...I'm seeing a trend here, do all of his really long songs start with 'C' or something?

I first heard this song over the PA immedietly before one of the LA Act I shows started. Didn't know what it was, but it was fonky. Stripped down early version.

The album version is funky, but it is way too long and comes off really corny and pathetic IMHO. If it was instrumental, I wouldn't mind it, but when he starts slurping with his "tongue in the crease"... how pathetic sounding. No Candy 4 Me

I agree that the slurping was unnecessary- kinda like the way "Orgasm" used to creep me out. But it doesn't really bother me anymore, and I think, if anything the changes in the music itself in the album version turn an ordinary funky song into an epic. And I just like the way he took it into a more jazzy direction with more emphasis on brass and strings. This is certainly not a song that I'm going to listen to based on lyrical genious...
