this is yet another part of my ongoing effort to keep the FAQs up to date. this time around, i need my fellow prince geeks to help me in compiling a list of fakes that people occasionally ask about here (like the seymour funk songs, for instance), so there'll be a list ready for people to look at when they need to ask.

please do not hijack or bullshit around on this thread, as this is a serious inquiry. that, and it'll help me list the songs much quicker when i update the FAQs if i don't have to wade through a bunch of unrelated posts.

One q. - Are those Time and Vanity (6) tracks (real or not) circulating? I'd be interested in tracking them down regardless of their authenticity.

So, on the 'Rude Boy' cd, i'm kinda surprised that the 'Alphabet Street demo version' isn't a known fake.

Is it a suspected fake?

Only ask because, to me, it sounds like someone who's just learnt to play the guitar trying to strum two chords.

Don't anybody buy that CD, by the way. absolute shit.

i still dont understand this FAQ thing. theres new people coming on here all the time so why not just let them ask questions? surely every Prince question has been asked on here at some time so why not have "NO MORE QUESTIONS ABOUT PRINCE THANKU, JUST USE SEARCH"?

"feelin' kinda freaky" is another one...dunno if it's one of those damned seamore funk songs or what (that's my guess, though).

How 'bout The (entire)Black Album redone by some German group after Prince pulled his version off the market. Hopefully no one has mistaken these dudes for Prince, but the CD packaging looks legit enough to fool some folks.

I just bought a group of 3 cd's on Ebay: The Def Jam master mixes of Prince - disc 2 which was only released for Radio Play it says. C.D.#2 is a Prince and the NPG c.d. called Uncut Diamonds. The 3rd c.d. in the group is called Prince Royal Mix with two 12 minute tracks of mixes. Did I get ripped? Are these fakes? I'd appreciate any info. I wouldn't know a bootleg if it bit me in the a**!
