If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

Kinda like allmusic.com

The reviews for prince records are a little bit weird. (4 and half stars for the symbol album?) But this site is great as a huge database for finding things.

Reading some of those reviews is hilarious, in particular NME's review of 1999(the obnoxious hipper-than-thou critic who calls the now-classic album a collection of Fame b-sides... this one has to be read to be believed) and Rolling Stone's prediction that Purple Rain "may not yield another smash like last year's "Little Red Corvette," ).

lol Some of those reviews are spot-on predictions of the impact that the albums will have on pop and rock history. But as you say, many a critic had their head up their ass.

I love to read through those time-capsules, though...

I love that one. falloff

It is so fascinating seeing how many critics warmed up to certain Prince albums like Parade and SOTT.
