I don't know what demo version you're talking about. There isn't one circulating. Anyway yeah, I still dig this album, and it's cool that you've finally managed to get it together. The only song I really don't like on it is "Dead on It". Dude shouldn't have even tried it. "2 Nigs" is some great jamming, and you can't say enough about "Rock Hard..". Classic album. Keep your headphones on.

Dead On It is a rap parody and pure genius.
I enjoy the entire album. Fun as hell. The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

yea there is. its diff from the blk album version. the album version everything is more comical. and its got more words and i cops are on it. the demo version everything is...harder, more cold sounding. prince is makein the gun noises with his mouth, some of the words are changed or not there, theres a gun shot at the end and i dont think the cops are on it. also theres some talkin @ the end, hes askin how many minutes and sheila tells him and then he;s tellin em what they have to do on it tomorrow (add gun shots etc..) and yea 2 nigs is some great jammin and yep rock hard is the shit! (and yall for the last time its "ya couldn't concentrate when ya dick SAW her!" Yesterday is dead...tomorrow hasnt arrived yet....i have just ONE day...

"bob george" (demo)?? -- sounds like you're describing a live version of "bob george" from the lovesexy tour (hence the lack of cops and the different gun sounds) -- the ending gun shot is the death of camille (right after he says, "thy kingdom come..."), and the very next song is a rebirth of Prince rising out of that very same spot, playing the piano for "Anna Stesia" [Edited 8/20/05 0:57am]

It's a rehearsal if anyone else but prince was there. a rehearsal for the concert. you're hearing them practice the live arrangement on a stage.

I'm with Smokeverb. "Dead On It" is embarrasing as Prince takes an ill fated swipe at hip hop. To me it shows Prince on the defensive for the 1st time in the '80's. To be critical of an emerging, alternative genre of music was not Prince at his best.
But I LOVE the album and "Cindy C", "Bob George" and "Rockhard In A Funky Place" are smokin!

sounds to me like "Dead On It" is only dissin' rappers with no musical talent Riding in my Thunderbird on the freeway I turned on my radio 2 hear some music play I got a silly rapper talking silly shit instead And the only good rapper is one that's dead on it Uh, Dead on it Shall we go back? (Yeah!) Let's go Negros from Brooklyn play the bass pretty good But the ones from Minneapolis play it like it oughta should A magnum fro is better when u got a poof on it And the 2 and fro is funky when the grease is dead on it (Funky dead on it) uh, dead (on it) on it Shall we go back? Let's go They dead on it, wow See the rapper's problem usually stem from being tone deaf Pack the house then try 2 sing, there won't be no one left (ha ha) (on it) Parking lot's on fire, brothers peelin' out of the town They say in disgust, they singin' their guts Rappin' done let us down (down down) u got 2 be dead... on it

After reading all the hype on the org, I was a bit nervous that I would be disappointed...but I LOVE IT! I have been listening to it every morning before work. Can't get enough of Superfunkicalifragisexy. The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.
