prince 1990 onwards vs bowie 1985 onwards

so who do you think has released the better quality music after both these wonderful artists had past their so called "creative peak".....they both had an amazing run of great albums....but who has been better since then?....

I'm gonna go with Bowie because I love both Outside and Heathen (Plus he recorded Absolute Beginners in that time, which is one of my favorite songs). With Prince there's a lot of stuff I love from that period, but nothing that I think stands up to Bowie's latter day best.

lol Bowie had Heathen and Reality, the only 2 decent releases since 85. Out of several including Tin Machine crap.

There have been more solid work on Prince's post 1990 work and we all know that.

interesting thought, i'd have to let my friend know who is a big bowie and prince fan

i've not heard much post 85 bowie but i have two of his 80s albums on tape and they're both dire.

i'd say prince simply because theres plenty of good stuff on D&P and symbol, i like come, the vault, rainbow children. the truth. i like most of it but some of them such as TGE and C&D don't always stand up as 'albums'.

im sure there are just as many bowie fans who would say prince is dismal and boring.....and that bowie is glamorous and talented...

At the time when Bowie released Outside and the follow-up
(can't remember the title) He connected very
well with the younger generation and did a lot off
festivals as headliner,in Europe.
Outside is a good album,I listened 2 it a lot but 'haven't since
then. The next album was a kind off sell out 2 the younger generation
with those Prodigy beats.
It was a little sad that while Bowie was back in the
picture, there was NO news about Prince..
But some years later Prince did much better than Bowie
and since the new millenium it has been really
quiet around Bowie, even if he released an album.
But..respect to Mr.Bowie...a real artist!

Interesting question,
let's look at their respective output...

Prince 1990 onwards...

Graffiti Bridge
Diamonds And Pearls
prince
Come
The Gold Experience
Chaos And Disorder
Emancipation
Crystal Ball / The Truth
The Vault... Old Friends 4 Sale
Rave In/Un2 The Joy Fantastic
The Rainbow Children
N.E.W.S.
Musicology

David Bowie 1985 onwards...

Never Let Me Down
Black Tie White Noise
The Buddha Of Suburbia
1. Outside
Earthling
...Hours
Heathen
Reality

Hmmm, tricky. If Prince had been only 1996 onwards I'd have definitely gone
with Bowie, but the inclusion of the 'Original NPG Era' I think has tipped
my opinion in favor of Prince. Though I do think overall Bowie had a more
consistent output.

Wouldn't say it's been quiet around Bowie at all. Heathen sold quite alot, the Reality World tour was in the news everyhwere. The media still likes Bowie.

Hey Boris, I like your new avatar! Any chance you got this from Dan Brown's book? That's there where I saw those [forgot the name] first.

Yes, that's exactly where I got it from. The ambigrams were specially
commissioned for the book (as no-one knows what the real Illuminati ones
look like). Hopefully they'll make Angels And Demons into a film like
they're doing with The Da Vinci Code.

I think they're equal. Both have released one album that I consider truly great (Heathen/The Truth) and both have released some good albums and some bad albums.
