Electric Intercourse ..
This HAS 2 be the best unreleased Prince track of all time... in my humble opinion. Prince should have used this Track in the 1st Avenue scene when Morris is chatting up Apples and P bursts in2 the Beautiful Ones... Although the Beautiful Ones is..well, beautiful...it lacks the sincerity, imagery and downright sexuality of Electric Intercourse.. Picture it, Morris has just wooed Apples.."waterbed" blah blah blah "lips make a lollipop 2 happy" natter natter natter "Im gonna make U love me" yadda yadda yadda...then P comes in with the revolution, looks over at their table, smiles 2 himself...sits down at that Piano and starts singing... I feel some kind of love 4 U I don't know your name This is the kind of love that takes 2 I want U and I'm not ashamed Cuz baby, U shock my wild With a sexual electricity extraordinaire Come and take advantage and undress me I don't even know U, I don't even care I feel some kind of sexual courage Tell me do U feel it 2? Our bodies wanna be 2gether Girl, I wanna be with U Electric is my body, baby I'll shock U with my lips Darling, don't U know Your Technicolor climax is at my fingertips? Hear me, baby Electric intercourse, electric intercourse Don't U wanna? Electric intercourse, electric intercourse Don't U wanna make love, sweet love, my love? Electric is my body, baby I'll shock U with my lips (Yes I will) Darling, don't U know Your technicolor climax is at my fingertips Baby, no no, listen 2 me Electric intercourse, electric intercourse Don't U wanna? Electric intercourse, electric intercourse Electric intercourse, electric intercourse Don't U wanna? Electric intercourse, electric intercourse Don't U wanna make love, my love, sweet love, yeah? Don't U wanna? Electric intercourse Don't U wanna make love, yeah? The song is more fitting 2 the scene...cos at this stage he really doesn't know Apples..Beautiful ones is 2 familiar..as if he knows her,,,U know "if we got married, would that be cool" & "U make me soooo confused"...no she doesn't...she doesn't even know U... he shoulda used Electric Intercourse

Is there a studio recording of this song? The version I have is definitely a live recording (recorded at First Avenue in August 1983,I think).....Prince even says "Wake up Wendy!" at one point

yes...it's the most awe-inspiring piece of piano based music I have EVER heard...I played that song on repeat like..9 times in a row and still felt the passion everytime (except the crap bit when P says "yes I will)

There is no studio version.
It is a great track, though. And I agree, it would have worked perfectly in place of The Beautiful Ones.

i think there must be a studio version but it definatly isn't circulating.
as for the song, it just never did much for me

Yes this is the version I have too, but I don't think the sound quality is that great--I feel like I can't really hear the song. Is yours like that too? (Mine is a "real" boot, but I couldn't believe how bad the sound is.) So how many "versions" of this song are circulating? The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

Thats one of those outtakes I never tire of hearing. "Why'd I waste my kisses on you baby?" R.I.P. Prince You've finally found your way back home. Well Done.

There are two rehearsal versions (at least) of the song circulating from rehearsals prior to the First Avenue Benefit Concert on 3 August 1983.
The live version performed at First Avenue also circulates in audio and video. The live recording was then worked on by Prince a month or so later in L.A., but I don't believe this circulates, and I'm unaware of any true studio version. . ALT+PLS+RTN: Pure as a pane of ice. It's a gift.

Electric Intercourse is great, but I'd have to disagree that it's better than
The Beautiful Ones. Prince definitely made the right decision, but it is a shame the track never surfaced as a b-side or something.

I'd have to disagree with that too. The Beautiful Ones was actually written with the scene in mind, and fits the mood perfectly. Electric Intercourse isn't as intense, plus it's a more straightforward love song that lacks the possessive accusatory climax required for the scene.

How is singing Electric Intercourse to her gonna make her all upset and storm out of the club? It just doesn't have the lyrical and emotional content to prompt that reaction. The Beautiful Ones does.

By the way, isn´t it " baby you shock my wires " instead of "wild" ? " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

To identify the different outtakes:
There are two rehearsals. During the first rehearsal, the band is basically trying out the song - twice. During the first take, Prince counts in, announces that that is the intro, asks for the mic to be turned up, and then counts in again before the start. Prince starts off singing in falsetto and hardly sings the chorus. In the second take, which follows immediately on he lowers to sing in normal register. In the second rehearsal, the band has clearly learned the song, although Wendy is instructed to 'wake up', Prince explains that he says the first 'intercourse' during the chorus. The live version should be obvious. (I have transcriptions for all versions but not to hand.) . ALT+PLS+RTN: Pure as a pane of ice. It's a gift.
