I want to know what your favourite Prince Bside is. 4 thiose of you who dont know, theres a selection the Hits Vol 3. I think my top 5 are.
1. 17 Days, this song could fit on Purple Rain let alone any other Prince Album. Its well written and melodic.
2. Shockadelica, Turned down by Jesse Johnson, kept this Powerful Camille Rocker for himself and B sided it on If I was ur Girlfriend. I think it would have been a bigger hit if this was the topside! I love the falsetto at the end of the 2nd verse.
3. Erotic City, not just bcos its so catchy but it sounds good and may be Princes finest duet. Sheila E sounds good too, I wonder what Apollonia would have sounded like doing this track.
4. La La Hee Hee, The best Parliament clone i have heard.
5. Irresistable Bxxch, a fine early Bside, has a boucing melody and a strong rap vocal by Prince. Its an interesting story he sings about a seductive minx.
So if u think they r daft choices or like them, I want 2 know also any other song I may have missed. But It cant be.

I agree that 17 Days should be near the top of this list. Number One.....She's Always In My Hair has to be one of his best ever tunes, let alone being his best B-Side.
I'm also surprised there isn't more love being shown for "How Come U Don't Call Me Anymore"

I don't think we'll see a return of the fabulous B-Sides as the market is so different nowadays (endless stream of remixes on singles these days). But, we can live in hope.

I remember when EVERY single had a B-side. The 45 or cassette single had the short version, and the 12-inch had the extended version of both the single AND the B-side. Those were the days.

1) How Come U Don't Call Me Anymore (his absolute best B-side so far, especially live. I like Alicia's version too.)
2) Another Lonely Christmas ( I love the '80s sound of it)
3) Erotic city (just funky)
4) Girl (strange but cool)
5) 17 Days (I don't know what I like about this song)

I am amazed, theres a pattern there with 17 days. Maybe the song lost some of its thunder at release time, because 'When Doves Cry' was the top side.
Hers six to 12 for those of you who mentioned other superior songs I had forgotten about.
6. Shes always in my hair- Its jangly, like all his best Bsides they sound like the top sides, in this case Raspberry Beret here in New Zealand.
7. Another Lonely Christmas, I love when Prince mixes the baroque with rock, also the emotion in this song. Also someone said they knew who it was about, could you please tell us, its hard to follow all of Princes girlfriends.
8. Shockadelica, I was a HUGE camille fan, and have a tape of it.
9. Power Fantastic, I dont know if it was on the crystal ball, but I still love this piano mini opus.
10. Gotta Stop (Messin about), his earliest and maybe his most direct Bside, why it wasnt on the 30 minute long Dirty Mind is beyond me.
11. 4 the tears in Your eyes, A lovely harmony vocal with WendynLisa. If you can get past the religious hardsell its a great song, and better than the we are the world crap.
12. How come you dont call me anymore, I love gospel and amazingly Prince is one of the best gospel singers around. The song builds to a crescendo only to be followed by a gruff "Its one lousy dime"

So there you are, esp all you guys into choices 6 and 7

Sorry I realise Number 8 should be scarlet pussy, and I do like Feel u up 2.

Power Fantastic isn't a b-side, although it is a top drawer track.
