underrated:

A lot of the stuff from D&P and Symbol albums. Granted Tonyf'nM's jive ass rapping drags a bunch of it down.

Come - the album

Controversy - the album

Batman - the album

Overrated:

The Black Album - it's got some classic cuts, but it's just not the end all be all.

Girl - the song

The entire Gold Experience Era.

Put DOWN the pipe! y'all MUST be high as a kite! Computer Blue, Starfish, & Adore are comPLETE classics. Pure and Simple! biggrin Just had to say that since you just dissed 3 of my all time faves byt the little guy.

...and even though I usually like Prince's experimentations with jazz...Madhouse 8, Expectation...NEWS sucks a big fat one.

I think the most underrated is the Truth album. I think it being packaged with Crystal Ball is part of the reason for this. However, there are some gems on that album - Man In A Uniform (so sexy and funky), Don't Play Me and One of Your Tears (sooooo sultry).

I couldn't agree more. Kind of unforunate. Can't leave out the title track, either, that's another gem that needs some love.

No one is saying that they aren't classics; however, classics can still be overrated. (Elvis anyone? wink )

Also, I don't think N.E.W.S. is a classic, but it's not as awful as some other things I've heard.

Different strokes...

Overrated

La, La, La, Hee, Hee, Hee-Those dog barks are annoying as hell. Way too silly.

The Rainbow Children-Some think it's brilliant, I think it's pretentious trash. The ridiculous narrator voice about sums it up for me.

Wendy & Lisa-Not really a Prince product, but still overrated. Prince did just fine without their input, and sometimes much better.

The Lovesexy tour/album-The clothes were embarassing even for Prince, and the album was just average. I think it gets overrated cause it's from his amazing 80's run.

Come On-I like the strings, but it's still too plastic sounding. Nothing great.

Underrated

One Night Alone: Solo Piano & Voice-Atmospheric, whimsical, melodic and somber. This album showed me that Prince still has "it" in the studio when he digs down deep enough.

Come-Dark, unique, dream-like and sometimes even twisted. This album is flawed, but special. This is a side of Prince we almost never see.

The Gold Experience-It's flawed and could've been near perfect with the songs he took off, but it's a great album with a lot of accessibility.

The gems off Emancipation-The album is so full of poorly produced filler and covers that songs like The Love We Make and Face Down don't get the appreciation they deserve; as songs every bit as great as some of his classics from the 80's.

eek This statement tells more about you, Golden Glove than about Prince, don't be so homophobic, grow up! Prince plays with his sexuality, in his lyrics, in his dance and the way he dresses... this has nothing to do with being "gay" neutral

Parade was all about funk and style.... It was a classic album and a classic Prince tour. Don't be so narrowminded for God's sake sad

Oh golden! Okay. I agree with you on lovesexy. that album is horrible. Parade I agree with the outfits, but that is one of the best albums he has ever made. For you is pretty damn good for a 19 year-old kid doing everything himself. Musicology is a good album, but a CLASSIC??!!!!! Come on. Condition of the heart is overated, I agree. But Dorothy Parker is not.

It's still so stupid this comment, Parade is not gay in any way.... confused

I remember Golden Glove once said the same thing about the Kiss video, to him it looked very gay.... Lol. It must be becuz you are so young GG, you sound so narrow minded, when you diss Parade/ Kiss in that way.

Parade (and the kiss video) is pure art and the outfits are COOL!

Prince might be provocative at times (in his past), but the Parade outfits are not "gay". If they looks gay to you then there's something wrong with you.... it's definately something a young teenager is saying without knowing what he's talking about. Grow up, please wink
