That's a problem with doing everything in the digital realm instead of a bit in analog. It takes a little bit away from the warmth of the sound unless you purposely inject it into the recording session. You're right though. wink

It doesn't "take away" anything, with converter's as expensive as Prince uses it bloody hell better not take away anything. It's actually the traditional analog way of doing things that messes up the sound rather. It's just that many people seem to prefer that sound. And Musicology would have sounded exactly the same had it been laid down on tape only regardless of utilizing computers at any recording stage. Prince has always used quality tape you know, you wouldn't hear the difference. The thing is mastering plants these days have to tendency, and the nexessary equipment, to boost the high frequencies, drop the low ones, scoop the mids - and that's pretty much the modern sound for you.

Sorry, goddamn. I've been mastering a really difficult record the whole weekend and can't get these things off my mind even when trying to relax for a bit. smile
