3121... the most boring Prince era ever... Are we in the 3121 era now?... or is it the Musicology era still?... whatever it is it is pretty boring. What era is this? and how long can Prince starve us of funky music for?

Well for europeans, it is a bit weird. he hasn't done anyhting around Europe now for 3 years. We have had all this musicology tour excitement to find out that he wasnot flying across the atlantic eventually. So I'm sure you will understand why some people are a bit frustrated. people would like non cryptic officials decent news from time to time as well. That's what most major artists do on their official sites. Moreover Musicolofgy was a very average album. So that's make the wait feel even worse hehe. What exactly are you complaining about? The album isn't even out yet. How can the era be boring when the album your associating it with hasn't even been released? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I waited what felt like forever for the lil guy to go on tour, only to find out the only stops he was going to bother making in Canada were halfway across the country. Sorry Prince, but I don';t have the time or money to make the commute from BC to Ontario just because you decided it was too much work to haul your ass out to Vancouver. For as long as he wants, I guess...never mind that the vault is probably overflowing by now. Maybe that round building at PP is a vault annex? "I would say that Prince's top thirty percent is great. Of that thirty percent, I'll bet the public has heard twenty percent of it." - Susan Rogers, "Hunting for Prince's Vault", BBC, 2015

I would have liked to take some non-Prince-fan friends to see the Musicology tour over here in the UK. The 'hits' nature of it would have appealed to them. Yep, all that cryptic advertising Prince did about 3121 certainly paid off - errr - .... I think '3121' was the number of hours before Prince released a new album...

What is happening as well is that most of his musicians have solo careers and had to do their own thing for a while. Candy and maceo are everywhere. John Blackwell as well. Prince is a multi instrumenatlist. he can make a new album on his own!

Musicology was a great show for the casual fans...and obviously the majority of the audience every night WAS casual fans (the relatively low ticket prices helped a lot there). Yep, all that cryptic advertising Prince did about 3121 certainly paid off - errr - .... I think '3121' was the number of hours before Prince released a new album...
Hopefully it's not the number of DAYS until a new release! "I would say that Prince's top thirty percent is great. Of that thirty percent, I'll bet the public has heard twenty percent of it." - Susan Rogers, "Hunting for Prince's Vault", BBC, 2015

Am I the only one who thinks Prince should take his time and put out product when he has enough really good material. One of Prince's issues in the 90s was rushing product out before he had enough really good songs. I think a cooling off period is exactly what he needs. I'd rather wait a little longer and get something really good rather than get something rushed.

In theory, that's true. In practice, I'd rather have the material before Prince over-produces it. Fans that have heard early raw boot versions of tracks invariably prefer them to the released versions. I think you can work on an album for years trying to create perfection - and still end up with a turkey. Or, like Kate Bush, never get round to releasing a new album at all for fear it will be imperfect.

Prince is a multi instrumenatlist. he can make a new album on his own! It is not what I meant. I was talking about touring and the fact that he gave an end to the Musicology tour before even touring in Europe. Or, like Kate Bush, never get round to releasing a new album at all for fear it will be imperfect. Well, there are two sides to that coin. On the one hand, he HAS overproduced tracks by working on them too long ("Endorphinmachine" springs to mind), but then again, he has rushed albums like NPS, which sucked shit through a straw. I guess its a matter of Prince needing to figure out when a song is done. Over or under cooking both ruin the flavour. Do not hurry yourself in your spirit to become offended, for the taking of offense is what rests in the bosom of the stupid ones. (Ecclesiastes 7:9)

I began to get a bit excited after the NAACP Awards performances and the video shoot in Panama. But after that...it's just turned into nothing. I'm hoping we get something by fall, maybe. Ooh, little darlin' if you're

There's no use worrying over something you can't control. Enjoy what you have right now and just accept that you'll get something new when you get something new.

I don't mind waiting a bit, I just wish he wouldn't tease us
with all the parties, and 3121, and Satisfied, and the award show appearences in the beginning of the year with no album out or on the way Thats what got me excited, only to be left hanging. If you will, so will I

BTW...I always figured in Prince Famville an "era" began
with the release of an album. Sorry GoldenGlove, I think we're in a sort of limbo right now between Musicology and 3121? Maybe it's a glitch in the Matrix, but somehow I think we'll all survive. If you will, so will I
