I love how they say, "well true...Prince can play more instruments, and write better lyrics, etc, etc." yet illogically conclude that "Michael is still more amazing."
The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

nothin really about that--i see the same here too but in its opposite form: "michael's a great dancer and performer...but prince is still the bomb."

nothin really about that--i see the same here too but in its opposite form: "michael's a great dancer and performer...but prince is still the bomb." I know that people here do the same. I meant b/c if you follow the logic of: A does x better than B A does y better than B therefore B is better than A Logically it isn't correct. (Prince or MJ can be either A or B.) The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. I knew they were when someone posted that Prince has always been "too bland" for them. Now I've heard Prince called many things in the 26 years I've been a fan, but that was a definate first!

Thing you've gotta realise about Jacko fans is that all the communities online are different. ALl his fans are different. mjboard.com is generally for the younger types, new fans who yap on about shit like "What's your fav MJ song? Who here likes Billie Jean? I do" and utter WANK like that.

No big deal.
Fans there will say MJ is the best, fans here will say Prince is the best. They're both like different worlds, but neither are any less guilty of their bias. The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

Are you sure? Every community I've ever been to (I used to be a huge fan) is the same: "Let's carry on about how sexy he is and how marvelous his music is and cuss out, maybe even ban, any person who says anything the least big negative or out of our realm about him."

I had to shut some of these folks down. quote: ----- Originally posted by Funtastik Hmmm, I downloaded some of the tracks that GG posted, but I can't say I'm really bowled over. I mean, they're not BAD, but I just don't find them terribly catchy, either. Sounds like typical R&B to me, but then again, that may be because Prince had a heavy impact on what typical R&B is in the first place. Oh well. Thanks for sharing anyway. Was cool to hear. ----- First of all, i would like to say, what's up to everyone...I am a Prince fan who also happens to be an oldschool Mike fan From the Jackson's Going Places to Thriller. I have to say I find some of the posts on the whole Prince Vs. MJ very interesting. I have to say that the "downloaded" tracks that you have in your posession have to be Prince's latest shit on Musicology, which was more traditional R&B than anything else he's ever put out. There is nothing traditional R&B about "Let's Go Crazy" "1999," "Sign O The Times" "7," "Dirty Mind" ect.... From 1980 to 1990, Prince was making some of the most groundbreaking "R&B" in the biz. If you listen to Sign O The Times alone, that album is miles ahead of anything MJ has ever done (rock, jazz, pop, heavymetal, quiet storm ballads, funk, rap, psychedelic, experimental...)...and not just that superficial 'hey, I want to do a little rock now so let's get that Billy Idol's guitarist's 'Steve Stevens' or I want R. Kelly's sound, so let's get R.Kelly..' As far as the "debate" I think a lot of the MJ and Prince fans have it twisted. To say that Prince can dance as well as MJ is foolish and shows that Prince fans can be just as fanactical as MJ fans. But the difference between MJ and Prince is simply this: MJ, in this prime, did one thing to perfection (sing & perform). In that department, he had no peer...But Prince did EVERYTHING well, (write, produce, sing, perform, ect...) He was not great in one particular department, but he was exceptionally good in everything he did....This explains the genius label that is often thrust upon Prince.. Finally, I don't think the argument was ever about who the biggest icon is...Placing pictures of Ms. Monroe, Elvis, and Madonna, is a bit superficial...If I used some of the MJ folks' thought process, Britney Spears is better than MJ and Prince and Madonna because at the moment she is a bigger Icon. Let's look at talent and artistic impact. If we are serious and telling the truth, Prince comes out on top...The problem with Mike himself and MJ fans is that they use record sales and numbers to justify MJ's title as KING OF POP. To me Mike is better than that. To me, he is one of the top talents of all time without all the bells and whistles...MJ was at the height of his powers when he would just let the music talk...By the time Bad came out, he was not the same MIke I enjoyed and respected..The same Mike that burned down the stage on the Triumph tour (yeah, I was there)...He became the KING OF POP.... The "King of Pop" moniker didn't officially arise until the "Dangerous" era. And are you sure you want to use the same sentiments for the "Bad" tour? Say what you will about the album, the new look, etc... but he was still burning the house down night after night with a live tour.

from that board.....
I attended Prince's Lovesexy Tour in 1988 and it was brilliant but I was very disapointed with Prince's dancing skills after hearing what a great dancer he was supposed to have been ie just as good as Michael Jackson, but Prince isn't even as good as Bobby Brown.

I belong to this and many MJ Boards.....I'm an orger first and foremost though
Why do Prince fans hate MJ?, I know, another Prince/MJ thread http://www.mjj2005.com/ko...rince&st=0 my name on this board is rheumatism, though I didn't respond to this post. I see another orger is also a part of this forum. Funny, as they get into whether P is Black or not [Edited 7/24/05 18:11pm]

Funny, as they get into whether P is Black or not [Edited 7/24/05 18:11pm] If you read my post, you could see that I have just as much respect as i do for Mike that i do for Prince...Hell, I even had to shut down a Prince fan who said that Prince was a better dancer than Mike. But, my point for posting the response is that a lot of the MJ fans on there only deal with the surface when it comes to MJ...I was riding more with MJ on the Off The Wall album and on the early Jacksons tours...I was still riding with him with Thriller...The only leg that some of the MJ fans have to stand on with MJ in their mind (and it's the wrong leg) is the fact that Thriller was at one point the highest selling album of all time...If I wanted to speak up for Mike and if I was real MJ fan, i would just use the fact that from his time in the J5 to Thriller, no one could see him on the stage...He was the greatest song and dance man EVER! But when people on the MJ Board start using his KING of Pop credentials to make their point that MJ is better than Prince, I have to step in...I could respect their opinion if they were using valid points...That's why P trumps MJ...His fans just don't get it... Say what you will about the album, the new look, etc... but he was still burning the house down night after night with a live tour. My mistake....you are correct. Anyway, I liked "Liberian Girl" and "The Way You Make Me Feel." Hell I even tolerated the corny faux gospel yet sincere heart of "Man In The Mirror." But make no mistake: BAD may have sold a shit load of albums, but most of the material was pop driven fluff that lacked the soul of Off The Wall and even the more commercial Thriller. So even if he was kicking ass on the Bad tour, he was still singing some corny ass songs that was beneath his talents; and his stage show was getting lazy with all of the cherographed "recreations of the video" dancing (I liked it better when he was unpredictable with his stage dancing like JB...No one could fuck with him then)...If i was in the audiance at the Bad concert, I would have been waiting for his older material.."Bad" has to be one of the worst songs ever written....
