Did you see my Dancing Machine thread in non prince a few weeks ago. Never seen P do the Robot or break for that matter The only thing you can throw at me is SOTT movie, Parade or Love Sexy eras. I got 30 years... Thieves in the temple...if you wanna argue the brother don't choreograph. It's on personal taste, but in a str8 battle, P would lose. watch me get banned now. ----- You will not get banned. Mike is an entertainer and great singer. P is a muscian and I think he focused on that first. I don't know if he used a teacher for dancing or if he just goes with his feelings. I think the whole let's do a chorographed dance routine is tired because of videos. I wish other performers would just do what Prince is doing now and just free form. In addtion, Cat said he was a pretty good dancer as the use to go out and dance. So maybe he just has it naturally.

It was implied that it could not be true because the dance was around in the 70's. Maybe it has been around for the last 30 years. Who the fuck cares !!! The point is the story could be true. I would have had to have been living under a rock not to know. I am sure the same dance with a different name was around in the past. However, I was responding to the comment that P was not taught the Electric Slide in the 90's because it was not around in the 90's. Well it was around. I do kind of take it personal when I am being told I don't know what I am talking about when it comes to something as simple as "Did people do a dance called the "Electric Slide in the 90's.

I think it's fair to say that Prince did not always have moves. When you look at him in those Prince/For You/Controversy/Dirty Mind days, he was mostly strutting and posing and running all over the damn place. He didn't get his act together until Little Red Corvette.
BTW, that's why I thought he was taught, because the difference in his moves is pretty dramatic. Come here, babe.. yeah...

I think this is clear in the outake scene filmed for "The latest fashion"
ufoclub said: I have read that Paula abdul was an uncredited advisor choreographer for Prince for Graffiti Bridge and it's videos, and the performances aorund that time.
altavista said: It seems like Prince's ability to move his ass increased dramatically from 1999 onwards (I think Little Red Corvette was the first really professionally polished performance).
It is widely known that Paula Abdul "taught" Janet Jackson how to dance. The basics of movement and anticipation and rhythm, that is not natural to most people. Does anyone know if there was a Paula in Prince's life that helped him out back in the day? I've tried to check this out on the internet, but I only end up with choreographers who have worked with him on specific projects. My art book: http://www.lulu.com/spotl...ecomicskid
