Tora Tora was the name that prince used when doing albums for the NPG. When WB's had him so tightly under contract and he wasn't aloud to release albums as often as he wanted he released "Exodus" & "Gold Nigga" under the name of Tora Tora, who was listed on the album as "Backing Noise & Moans". He got out of this phase in 95 i think.

Tora Tora was one of Prince's many pseudonyms. He used it on the NPG album 'Exodus' only and related performances around that time, wearing a mask to 'conceal' his identity. It was seen as a way of distancing himself from the album in an attempt to release his 'own' music independently of Warners, but Warners still insisted on getting their share of the royalties, I believe, and it ended up only being released throughout Europe.
Most lead vocals were sung by Prince's then bassist Sonny T. Gold Nigga was recorded earlier with Tony M. singing lead vocals. Prince appears a few times, but he is not named I don't think... 'Tora, tora' was believed to be a war-cry - used by Japanese pilots on the attack on Pearl Harbour in WWII - which means 'tiger tiger'. However in recent years it was revealed that American radio operators actually heard multiple utterings of 'To' and 'Ra' which were code words used by the Japanese pilots to say that they were approaching the target and that the target had been successfully attacked.
