Does P let folks do covers of his "nasty" tracks? Right about now it is clear that we will never hear Prince perform his down and dirty nasty songs ()
Do you think he'll give permission to others to cover songs like, for example, "Head?" I believe he gave permission for some group to record "Darling Nikki;" can't remember which one. Or do you think he'll permit covers, but not let people use his recordings for sampling or for inclusion in their movies. I'm trying to figure out the limits of his censorship of his own catalog. Thoughts? Come here, babe.. yeah...

i think anyone can cover a prince song, but he gets royalties from it.
he didn't give foo fighters permission to cover "darling nikki" - from the interviews he gave last year, he gave the indication that he really disliked it.

That Foo fighters cover is pretty good I think.
Berlin just released Erotic City on their new CD.

Seeing how he incorporates his own old stuff into his recent (well...) music, like he did Nasty Girl into the remix of Hot With U, I'd rather have peeps like The Foo Fighters give his old stuff a new injection than Prince himself. And if I had been Prince, I would have been DAMN happy that kewl peeps as Dave Grohl cover my old stuff. And do it so well. Thing is, that is prob what pisses Prince off, them being so good at the nasty stuff, while Mr Nelson is playing 'holy, holy' all over, where ever he can. Imagine a band taking up old Prince covers, the dirtay songs and play them dirtay too. And then let's see if Prince still feels like 'battling 2night'....hehehe. But he already commented on that on Don't Play Me, singing My only competition is… well, me in the past So true
