I wrote a thread titled "Best Black Rock Guitarists Since Hendrix" , over a year ago that had 200 posts on it. Ya'll need to come over there for this kind of thing.

Eh?
I think B.B. King is pretty well known, so was John Lee Hooker and Eddie Hazel. Vernon Reid, and Ernie Isley are also pretty well known also.

dang, you brought up some cool memories. But B.B. King is tops in my book. What about that Bo Diddley guy, he was pretty famous. Or, that guy who did the did walk-----Chuck something. I wanna say Chuck Berry, is that it? There are others; Nile Roger and Bernard from CHic. Ray Parker, jr.----Gotta love Raydio. Those are the ones I can remember.

While BB King plays a guitar he's more Blues. I mean rock.

One reason black rock hasn't taken off there's virtually no support from the black audience. Well atleast down here in Texas. I was outside a Lenny Kravits concert, I saw plenty of white,a couple other races, but no blacks.Lenny is a long time big force in black rock history. If he can't draw any then it will never become mainstream.

hmmm I think your perspective is little off base b/c not everybody thinks like you do and obivously this thread is prove. As for achieving mainstream sucess Lenny has already achieved it, its just that urban radio may never play Lenny's records but who gives a fuck.

I always found it rediculous that R&B radio didn't play Lenny Kravitz because songs like "Freedom Train" and "Come On And Love Me" could have easily been considered funk. People had already labeled him as a "rock" artist and also by the time Lenny came around, radio was playing mainly singles, unlike earlier when radio used to play many songs that were never released as a single.

nod Agreed. The Urban/R&B Radio Stations are full of shit. And now that I think about it. They didn't play my boys Living Color neither b/c they were to fucking caught up in damn labels which is fucking stupid.

The only reason they played Prince's "Let's Go Crazy" is because Prince was already a well established R&B act...the same with Ray Parker, Jr.'s "The Other Woman" and Cameo's "Alligator Woman". "Why You Wanna Treat Me So Bad" was a major accomplishment though because Prince was fairly new then and I can't remember anything else like it on R&B radio at the time.
