There are countless great moments. I could also say my very favourite songs - and "i wonder you" is one of those - are an enitre series of great moments. That arrangement is so slick, it`s like bam bam bam one idea after the next. That funky rhythm guitar in it - i just can`t get over it. A Genius at work.

I love the pick up from the drums to "The walk" - how cool John Blackwell played it note by note as an intro to "The work pt 1" You know - the drummer J.R Robinson is the king of drums pick ups - but this one is as good as anything he - JR - has ever done.

I think it was arranged by Eric Leeds, but i like what the horns play in the song "Anotherloveraholenyohead". I am talking about the live arrangement, they replace the strings of the studio version, the bridge. I love the melody, very playful. Real Jazz - no fake Jazz.

I can`t think of any programmed drum beat as cool as "777-9311". So....that`s one of the coolest moments, too. When "Wild and loose" ends and you`re thrown in that beat, so to speak. Brilliant.

Very sexy moment, very sensual when Cat`s voice becomes Camilles voice in "Lovesexy". You want me to swim in your.....

The end of "life can be so nice". Now that whole song is a masterpiece, but how incredible is that moment when it stops?

In "Gett off" - i love that sample that comes in when he says "i like em fat- i like em proud". Very funky sound.

I might go on later...there`s so many great moments in his music!

Oh- when the song "She gave her angels" is over - it starts all over again. What a great moment when he playes the melody of the song wioth that heavy nasty distorted guitar sound. What a punch.

The final "ch-ching" of the finger cymbals after the last chorus of 7
The way he sings anythaaang in " I will do most anything" in the final chorus of da bang
The sudden switch from falsetto to his lower register in the 1st 2 choruses of The Continental (and all the sound effects in that song too)
The way he sings "wantchaaaa with meeeee" at the end of Trust
That guitar sound effect he does just before the final chorus of Gold ,(goes like choo-rum-rum ..dunno how to describe it lol)
The delightfully breezy end of Willing and able leading into Gett Off

and too many instrumental breaks to relate here right now cool

when the snare kicks in on 'joy in repetition'.

keyboard intro to 'hot thing' in SOTT movie.

album version of 'hot thing' - the keyboard line is taken ONCE ONLY by heavy distorted guitar, waaay down in the mix. killer.

'positivity' - tiny tiny tiny in the mix, prince can be heard singing 'say it again' after one of the 'so slow' refrains from the girls.

'i wish u heaven part 1.2.3.' - the guitar solo in part 2, especially when it kicks in.

'le grind' - near the end of the song everything stops for a beat. everything except for a deep deep deep computer burble. killer.

rap at the end of 'let's pretend we're married'.

seagulls and bells in 'lady cab driver'.

at least two competing computer basslines in 'all the critics love u in new york'.

the two beats of 'housequake', offset against each other like an andy warhol.

military drumbeats at the end of 'sott' album version.

'scarlet pussy' - the dry, come-to-a-dead-halt intonation of the line 'she can make you cry when you're happy as can be' the second time around (i think?) on the chorus.

'new position' - bassline

'vicki waiting' - the entire section beginning 'talk of children still frightens me'

'strange relationship' - the rare tweaked slidey noise near the end that takes the song into the cool, dark 'yeah, yeah' refrain

'glam slam' - the synthesised (? they must be!) strings extravaganza sliding up and down the scale near the end of the song. UNBELIEVABLE

'lovesexy' - the guitar run after 'come on and touch it, i no u will love it but then i no heaven's a butterfly kiss away' - which is THEN followed by the chorus kicking in with super-solid bells and whistles all over it. UNBELIEVABLE

'cindy c' - horns

'rockhard in a funky place' - HORNS. there's about 80 notes in that riff. UNBELIEVABLE

'pop life' - the way the vocal is delayed by a split-second on one speaker. try it on headphones

'if i was your girlfriend' - the perfect distortion of the vocal

'good love' - the 'yeah, yeah' after 'gustav mahler jamming on the box'

'annie christian' - intonation of the vocal, especially 'i'll live my life in taxi cabs'

'baby, i'm a star' - dr fink's increasingly frenetic but precise keyboard stabs towards the end of the song. often imitated by prince himself in the 90s, never bettered

that'll do, i think.

Taking the tramp 2 court in eye Hate U

Guitar solo in eye Hate U

Guitar ending in Why U Wanna Treat Me So Bad

the lil intro to Dear Mr Man
( I end up replaying that part instead of the song)

777- 9311's beat is tight! (agreeing with whoever it was)

strings in Pink Cashmere

and screaming...

"I really get a dirty mind (mind, mind, mind)
Whenever U're around
It happens 2 me every time (time, time, time)
U just gotta let me lay ya, gotta let me lay ya, lay ya!
U just gotta let me lay ya, gotta let me lay U down!"
and the way the music calms back down. (down, down, down, down...) fade headbang
Shake....shake, shake, shake.

on Controversy when the "people call me rude (people call me rude) starts to overlap perfectly.

The ending of Eye No before Alphabet St. perfectly starts up in a crescendo. (know what I mean?)

The beginning of the Beautiful Ones.

The "Father's Song" part of Computer Blue.

"new power, new power, give it to me..." and the start up of the song, Lovesexy!

How the New Position fan-sounding thing blends perfectly into I Wonder U biggrin biggrin

music
