Plus the whole 'soapstone' thing is partial coincidence and has nothing to do
with it's meaning.

I have no fear. I'm a heifer with a purpose. I am spreading the word about the domination of the herd. Nobody will break my stride. Nobody will hold me down. Nobody will tip me over.

I am the cow messenger, servant to the great Cow Oracle.

My tongue will remain where it is, firmly in my cheek.

i don't think it was, although people have always made guesses as to how it'd sound if it did have a pronunciation...

And he's right biggrin
One of the commonest grammatical errors to make (and I fell fot it).

"It's" should only be used for abbreviations (like "it is" or "it has"),
not for the possessive (as in belonging to "it"). Unlike when using a possessive
for a proper name, like "Prince's" (as in belonging to Prince) as opposed to
"Princes" (plural).

I'll go and read my copy of "Eats, Shoots and Leaves" again. cool

Prince says my name in one of his songs. In Little Red Corvette, he says, "Liz is on the verge of being obscene" Ha, ha, just kidding. But seriously.

yeah, I remember hearing either Sonny T or Levi say that they jokingly called
Prince "Sshhhh-ding!" after the noise in the advert (and "2 Whom It May Concern")
when they weren't allowed to call him 'Prince' anymore. I thought it was kinda
amusing and used to call him that too!
biggrin

But that aside, the correct answer is that "prince" has no pronouncible name.

(I'm with the camp that says there is no way to pronounce it.)
The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

Wesco

I thought getting rid of his name and using 0(+> was brilliant! Loved the fact you couldn't pronounce it, and for the reality that he was so freaking cool at that time and this was just the icing on the cake, he was so cool that no one knew his name and they didn't need to as he was such a star.
