Emancipation, fabulous stuff!!

I would rate amongst the best work by prince, it would have to be the box set Emancipation..I think the tracks really rock, the lyrical content is really personal to prince and his life. I guess as listeners we get an insight into his personal life, deep emotions. To all the guys out there who own the cd, whats your fav song?? there are so many but i love Saviour,Da Da Da,and the cover versions are amazing, like La la means i love you.would be great to get your views..catch ya later

Snap

it's actually a fun album
we get to hear Prince try MANY different things
and getting very personal at times
for me, it's an album from a friend
he was very accessible at the time
and on the album, he is who he was then
i'm not sure we'll get that close to him again
it was a cool time, and he was in a good state of mind

my fav songs: betcha by golly wow (it's a beautiful love song ppl!), damned if i do, i can't make u love me, in this bed i scream, soul sanctuary, curious child, joint 2 joint, holy river, savior, friend-lover-sister-mother/wife, human body, my computer, the love we make <-- that last one might be my fav of the album

An absolute music fest of an album!!!! I remember the day I bought it in Edinburgh like it was yesterday, when I got home I played the whole album knowing my girlfriend would only allow me to play an hour of it in total for her pleasure, when she came in from work! I think trying to narrow it down to just 1 hour was the hardest cutting job ive ever undertaken.

Never understood the hard time this album gets from some on this site, I guess he will never please everyone with anything he ever does!

Soul Sancutary
New World
Savior
One Kiss At A Time
In This Bed I Scream
Friend Lover Sister Mother Wife
The Holy River
I Can't Make U Love Me
The Love We Make.

LISTEN TO THE WORDS OF THESE TRACKS. THINK ABOUT THEM. THINK BACK ON YOUR OWN LIFE AND COMPARE THESE MOMENTS WITH YOUR OWN EXPERIENCES, AND THESE WILL BECOME SOME OF YOUR FAVORITE TRACKS TOO.

It's like a tale of two albums.

There's the group of songs Prince obviously put his heart into, which are usually great, and the group of shitty filler songs that he obviously made just to fill up space on the album.

Miles

Loads of very good/great tracks let down by 'plastic' production. 'Slave', 'Face Down' and 'The Love We make' could have been truly great tracks (rather than just 'very good') had P/ Kirk J not produced them so brightly.

Still, the ballads are among his best ever. He should get more of them out in concert (tho I'm sure some of these may be too personal/ painful for him to play now.)
