Why do Prince albums before '88 "sound" better Is it just a digital/analog thing?

I know what you mean. Often thought that myself. It seems that once he got Paisley Park and all the state of the art equipment, his sound became very clean and it lost the raw edge to it. I've no idea if this was due to any sort of change from analogue to digital recording, but personally I prefer the old style sound, and I don't necessarly mean the instruments and drum machines being played, but the rawness of the recording itself.

Because he was younger, and had more good ideas... The creativity of an artist is very high between 20/25 and 30/35 years, I think...
