Rave in 88?? I know the tune Rave is an old tune but I have this cd from a club in Boston in 1988 (an aftershow) and he has the whole crowd screaming Rave in2 the Joy Fantastic... So my question is How old is this song?

I'm pretty sure it was made back then around 88 when the Batman soundtrack was being made. Then he held onto it and released it later. Not sure though.

Plus, check this thread: http://www.prince.org/msg/7/116565
For working tracklists of the unreleased album 'Rave Unto The Joy Fantastic' also from this time period. Don't worry, I can't get pregnant - my ovaries are diseased......

the tracklist i've made is(because we don't have everything)
side A 1. Rave Unto The Joy Fantastic 2. If I Had A Harem 3. The Voice Inside 4. Melody Cool 5. Pink Cashmere Side B 6. Electric Chair 7. Elephants & Flowers 8. God Is Alive 9. Still Would Stand All Time My question is. Was 'we got the power' ever put on a configuration? If not, is it surely part of the rave project

Sorry to sound curt, but when 2 people provide the answer, then someone asks the question without even bothering to look at the link provided, it seems justified. That is an amazing link. Really nice research Boris and Neversin, but we expect nothing less from you two.
From my research, I've found that Rave was mixed on Sunday Sept.25 1988, and additional recording was done (by Prince on guitar and vocals) on Thursday October 6, 1988. That week, Prince was fairly sick and had some sort of throat problem. I'd have to check my papers, but that was the period that he recorded the vocals for Elephants and Flowers and was why some of his vocals on one of the versions are rougher than usual. A safety copy of Rave was made on Thursday Oct. 27th. I don't know how different that is from the 11/27/88 version that Boris mentioned. Hope that fills in a few more holes. The expanded version of my book PRINCE and The Purple Rain Era Studio Sessions 1983-1984 was released in November 2018. Actually, there's a part in Graffitti Bridge where Prince is going through music he wrote and one of the songs is "Rave un2 the Joy Fantastic". So it seems like it was in the works way before it was release in 1999.

Er, yes ... the thread begins with reference to a performance of the song in Boston on October 31, 1988 and, has already been explained in several thread contributions above, it had been written, recorded, and then intermittently worked on over the preceding four months. . Of course they don't, that's why these idiots keep posting dumbass questions that have been answered to death... They're smart enough to post a question on a forum and yet they're too stupid to use google or the likes... Neversin. O(+>NIИ<+)O
