Prince & Bonnie

I was browsing the biographies at the iTunes music store. I ran across Bonnie Raitt. It was talking about how successful her career had been up until the 1980's when she was "battling drug and alcohol problems." At the time it said "she worked on a few tracks with Prince, but their schedules never aligned and the material went unreleased."

My question does anyone know of or would care to elaborate on this information?

I think Bonnie is an awesome musician and working with Prince.....ahh.....would be interesting to hear this type of collaboration.

he's on the "Luck of the draw" CD (1991), the liner notes list him as 'that really nice fella' or 'guy' = 4get which....keep your ears open 4 the tracks he's on playin' guitar & doin' background vocals...least thats what my N4 says cool

listen to this Bonnie Raitt tune, i hear him in the background B:

Tangled & Dark
Gonna get into it
Down where it's tangled and dark
Way on into it, Baby
Down where your fears are parked.
Gonna tell the truth about it,
Honey that's the hardest part.
When we get through it, baby
You're gonna give up your heart.

Gonna get into it, Baby
Gonna give them demons a call
Way on into it Baby
Gonna find out once and for all
Gonna get a little risky, Baby
Honey that's my favorite part
When we get through with it, Baby
We're gonna give up our hearts

Well there's no turnin back,
No turnin back, this time
Well there's no turnin back,
No turnin back-

No use in runin
It's always the same
You can count on the panic
It's the faces that change
We might have a change
To get this love off the block
So take a deep breath
Let's look under that rock

Repeat first verse

yeah, woudn't mind gettin' his butt where its tangled & dark wink
Death is my friend its useless to pretend. Death can find anyone, anywhere, anytime, can give or take as the Creator assigns. whether ostracized or embraced i'm here to tell you Death can take me any place!

I also heard that around this time Vanity/Denise and Bonnie were good friends, helping each other through their tough times (Denise's kidney dialysis and Bonnie's rehabilitation).

I met Bonnie around that time (1987 or so) and I have to say that she is one of the nicest celebrities/musicians that I have ever met.

I know she lost her father recently, and I wish her all the best.

Postivity.

This is a great rockin' track... however, i do not hear the "Purple One"
Towards the end of the song I hear a deeper voice...perhaps an alter ego?
Also I get the "prince vibe" throughout the guitar playing and keyboard vibes. Great track. Thanks 4 the info.

Raitt was perhaps his most talked-about reclamation project. "Oh, those sessions were kicking!" Prince says. But nothing was ever released -- a fact which Prince takes the blame for. "There was no particular reason it didn't come out," he says. "I was just working on a lot of things at the same time, and I didn't give myself enough time to work with her. I used to do that a lot -- start five different projects and only get a couple done. That's the biggest thing I'm working on: patience and planning."

Definitely Bonnie's. I don't buy his version at all... it doesn't seem at all heartfelt to me. Not like "I Love U But Eye Don't Trust You" does.
Come here, babe.. yeah...

Definitely BONNIE....i remember when i first heard this song...it has touched me ever since that day...

Prince's version seemed to be "for show"....i felt the emotion and all, but Bonnie does it which such subtleness.

bonnie didn't like this "kid" telling her what to do. Friction led to shelving. So I've read.

True. It's a bit the same feeling as discussed some time ago in a thread about Nothing compares 2 u, where it also was said that though Prince's version is melodically nicer and has beautiful voice, it lacks the emotion of the original.
How about george's version then?

There's a biography or autobiography about her connection with Prince it was published in 1994 or 1995. I'll got to the Boarders or Half Price books and see about it!
