I Need Your Feedback Hi everyone,
I'm in speech class this summer and need a lil help. the assignment is to choose a story, speech or lyric that is powerful and conveys a message. I'm thinking of choosing "Joy in Repetition". Any thoughts, suggestions, or comments are highly appreciated. We also have to give a brief history and meaning of our piece. Please help. Destiny How can I live 4 love? I'm calling!!!

Have you thought about If I was your girlfriend? Basically it is a man trying to entertain the notion that a man wants not only to be a lover to a woman but her best friend as well. That they don't have to be two seperate roles. The man wants to share the closeness with the woman that is experienced between two best girlfriends. I think it is an honest, interersting concept. Good lyrics too!

I like Adore if you confess you love for someone.
But I think Sign o' the Times has powereful meanings to it. "
First I need a picture of your mother, to verify the fact that there's not another one in the universe so supreme!!"

Joy in repetition is a good one, but it will probably the hardest one to get ur point across, establishing the true meaning etc
Anna Stesia would probably be the best one in terms of the themes etc, just listen to those lyrics, confusion, lust, love, loneliness, depression, religion, spirituality, god. Annie Christian is another good one. What about Family Name? Man i could talk about that one 4ever...

and @ lyrics to poom poom---
Dolphin -- living up to people's expectations Eye Hate u --- love.... whoo! ...does that explain a lot. Free --- Americans taking for granted what we have (ideally)... Dynamic Savior Said: Also, do you think that ugly people are God's cruel joke on humanity (like the platypus and the heterosexual) or another form of population control?

Joy in repitition is a fine choice, in my opinion, it is the most poetic of his lyrics. Most of his lyrics are pretty run of the mill, which is to be expected concerning his being in and around the pop field. Like all great artists, he does hit upon some heavy shit sometimes, In "Joy" the most profound thing for me was his talking of 'two words' as a response to "what's your name" later in the song the character turns it into the most basic and desperate of human desires, "love me".

actually i thought of "if i was your girlfriend" too.its just that i have to perform the reading in front of my class and thought it would be kinda hard. i think that "joy in repetition" is a much better poetic choice. Thanks Krystal! How can I live 4 love? I'm calling!!!

Let's go crazy is filled with lots of imagery but it would be kinda hard to do. I have to kinda perform the song as a spoken word piece. How can I live 4 love? I'm calling!!!

Well, as part of the presentation i have to convey the message of the song prior to performing it. I've never heard "Anna Stesia" Family Name would be too long, i have only 2 minutes How can I live 4 love? I'm calling!!!

I'm with u on that note. The most fascinating moment for me is how entranced he is by the two simple words "love me". My question for you is "in the movie, they show aura on the stage talking (Joy in rep is in the background), has it really happened or is it a daydream?" How can I live 4 love? I'm calling!!!

Don't know, been awhile since I seen the movie.

I had to do this in high school and I chose The Ladder.
It worked well - the biblical, sociological references, etc.
