Gay anthem of the Year by Prince... "GET IT UP!"
I love this groove but someone please tell me how this is a heterosexual man singing to a woman? It worked so much better when TLC sang it. I have yet to groove with a girl and yell out Get It Up in the middle of it all... Anyone have an explanation for this terminology? Thanks!  | |

It's the first track off of the Time's first album, so it's more or less Prince with overdubbed vocals by Morris 
And I assume it's "Get it up!", as in "please can you sexually excite me so that the blood vessels of my penis relax, allowing the erectile tissue to engorge thus resulting in my nursing of a fresh flesh tool that is suitable for penetration." ...then again I'm a perv and see that sort of inuendo everywhere.    | |

I can see your points of view of him asking her to get his thing up...but by what hes saying and yelling, he's up! "Get it up, get ready for a real good time" sounds like a direct instruction, I'm sorry, it's still too vague.
Get Me up, maybe. or Get it Wet can be directed to a woman I just dont see it. the whole song sounds like he's sedcuing a person and to do so he needs to be ready himself. He's convincing this person how nasty it can be and if it feels good do it...he doesnt need encouragement, this person does, so thats why the lyrics dont make sense being sung to a woman I stand firm no pun intended! | |
