Has this been the longest ever Prince drought? First of all this isn't a boo-hoo-hurry-up-and-release-something-boo-hoo thread, but I was just curious...
Since the end of the Musicology tour in September, all we have in terms of new music has been the Vanguard performance and a couple of other downloads (that have been previously released). No tour, no albums, no related projects (yeah, I know the Stevie Wonder album is coming soon) etc. Even the rumour mill has been quiet! Basically 8 months of silence (musically)... My question is: Has there ever been a period this long without something concrete. I know he didn't release albums in the years 1983 or 2000, but he was touring those years and still promoting albums etc. Like I said, I'm not pissed off or anything - I'm happy to wait, it's giving me time to listen to his back catalogue again and listen to new artists etc. But I was just curious... It's got me kind of excited.
If Prince needs this long to put out a better album than Musicology (which was quite obviously a rush job full of simple cuts and songs he already had made), I'm fine with it. The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.
