I really like this album I got it last month and have played it
A LOT lately. Most of the songs I already knew because they were
all over the radio, but other than the obvious
(Cream, D&P, Gett Off, Willing and Able, Money Don't Matter, Insatiable)
I love Thunder (one of the best songs he's ever done)
Walk Don't Walk
and Push biggrin

This album is great! It does sound very "90s"
but I like 90s music boxed
If you will, so will I

Hony Pony instead of Jughead wouldve made a world of a diffeence. It had to be saved for a b-side to sell the CD single.

I loved D&P when it came out but once prince came out I forgot about it. I like some songs on it today but as a whole, it was a so-so project for me.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Musicology is the D & P of today.

Imagine Musicology CD with Silver Tongue
and US of Division in place of Cinnamon Girl and Life o The Party. Pretty fucken great.

I must be the only one around here who thinks Strollin is a great song. That song proves that Prince can emulate (and improve on) any style of music he wants to. Lounge music is what I'd call it. And I love the vocal improvisation at the end.

"Strollin'" is my second fav from the album!!! biggrin

(...the first one is "Insatiable"!)

cool

cool Diamonds & Pearls was not a bad album. The problem is that he tried to fit in with the rap thing & it just came off like a joke on certain songs. Cream, Insatible, Money Don't Matter 2Night, & Gett Off made the album worth listening to.

Its a good album, not great. Some of favorite songs are on it though, which makes it a fave though.

It's average. Just average. Like Musicology.

Its got some good to great songs on it. I agree the 0(-> is better, far better, but there are still a lot of good songs on it i want to hear him play today. You've got to remember also, this is an album a lot of non-prince fans are familiar with, it was a reasonable success comercially, and had some memorable singles. I think im the only one who likes the title song.....i should be emarrassed to admit that right? Such a pretty melody though.

yeah really, the title track is what made me a fan in the first place. Although their opinions don't really matter, most non-fans I nkow love this song better than his others. The fans on the other hand don't think much of it.

Complete and utter averageness. It feels like a milkshake made of successful elements from Prince's past and current trends. I like the title track and Thunder... but the rest is pretty standard stuff.

I don't hate the album, but it's not one of my favorites.

i always think of D&P as his "viva las vegas" album. everything was all gaudy and gold and bubbles everywhere and all kinds of tacky nastiness...which, in its own way, was fun for what it was.

yeep..i have to agree ..d&p is one album i find extremely hard to listen to get in2 ,,with the exception of mayb 1 song cream i really dont like the album ...its reminicisent of 80s cock rock anthemic melodies and the parts by the new power gen are pretty lame ..its my number 1 worst album by prince ...

D&P actually sounds like a Prince solo album because it seems that his NPG crew aren't really working together. Most of them are just rapping and doing scratches. O+> is better!

Too bad prince is so goddamn hard to find in stores(sometimes I don't have the patience to buy online). It pisses me off that most of his stuff is rare and out of print. I know for sure that I would like prince as much as or better than D&P/

ive seen the symbol lp with the gold symbol sticker on the cover in several cd stores it looks like a re relase of the original as my m8 has it in a case and the gold symbol is die cut in this case ,,i alos picked up a "clean version "of the symbol album which invoked quite a rage in me when i heard the clean version of sexy mf!!

be wary !!!!there are bootlegged copies of symbol floating around out there in abundance ,,,they look like the real deal ,,,but the albums are a few seconds shorter or the covers colours are a bit faded

several stores here in sydney were busted selling these cheap bootlegged copies of cds

prince symbol was one of them ,,

and yes it really shits me that wb have fucked prince over bigtime by not rereleasing albums which are now out of print and rare i still have never seen a copy of gold experience ANYWHERE same with crystal ball, exodus and even new power soul ,,,fuck even rainbow children is hard to find now ///arrrrrgh

Yep, you made a good point. I remember us having this discussion last November over why Warner hasn't reissued his stuff. I said that their probably mad because of all the publicity and the changing of his name and also switching to his own independent label, NPG Records. Most of his stuff is out of print. I haven't even found a copy of The Black Album and TGE yet... Things were going good until the Crystal Ball/Sign O The Times era. mad

You mean his stuff started getting hard to find in 87? I actually have no problem finding the early stuff. It's everything after Lovesexy(except the Hits and D&P) that's impossible to get(in my experience).

Nope, that's not what I mean. I'm saying that when Warners started being cruel to him--by first demanding him to trim Crystal Ball from 3 records to 2 records. I mean that was his dream project, but now we have a masterwork he called Sign O The Times. From that point on, they just pressured him, and that's probably why we don't have reissues and remastered stuff. But at least, they reissued his 3 movies last year...
