Love song (Prince-Madonna)

So, what is the feeling here on the org - the Madonna/Prince collaboration, a wasted opportunity or really a great, groovy song.

I do really like the song, and think it has aged rather well. And it is not cheesy at all, what often happens in superstar collabs...

Honestly Prince and Madonna are my top 2 favorite artists.
It seems when they collaborated 2 positives made a negative. It's the law of the land, and that song is truly disppointing.

I like it. Why is it considered boring? Because it isn't jam packed
with a multitude of ideas and sounds? It's a nice sparse production
and one of the last understated Prince productions before the early
1990's kicked in and everything became fuller and louder and MORE..
and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

The song is interesting, but it's not the kickass song that it could have been.It sounds like a rough, unfinshed demo.It could have used another line or two. They keep repeating the line "Are you wasting my time? Are you just being kind?" over and over.Vocally, they sound good together, though.

If you're gonna have two major superstars on a song together, the song should be EXPLOSIVE."Love Song" is nice, but I think they could have done a better song.

The unfinished demo sound is what makes it cool!its stripped down and to be honest I miss that kind of appraoch compared to the huge over produced stuff he was knowcking out in the 90s

I understand what you mean. The song is very stripped-down,very demo-like,which I guess is part of it's charm.I do think it's an interesting song,in this regard.

I agree. The song was really supposed 2 be a throw-away, but P mixed it and pieced it 2gether and Madonna liked it.

Love it. It was a departure 4 both of them and brought out hidden sides of both per4mer's styles. The full scale musical woulda kicked arse.

Why was THAT song never release as a single?

You're joking,right? lol

The song wasn't worthy of being a single, especially when the 'Like A Prayer' album was filled with much stronger tracks.

It's on Madonna's 1989 album 'Like A Prayer'.

So the feeling here by many is that it was a throwaway track and essentially not very good... but when two massive stars collaborate most people expect something big and mindblowing - the track might sound unfinsished or whatever but its not cheesy like Bowie/Jagger dancing in the streets (which I have to say lost them loads of cred charity or not) or Ebony and Ivory. Though State of Shock wasn't too bad! smile

i quite like it.
I think it sounds more like a Prince track than it does a Madonna song though.
Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!

i love this song.....prefer this over them doing some sap ballad or some overproduced dance number...that would have been too predictable.

Any song with 2 of the biggest icons in the 80's should have been release as a single. Period.

And yes, I would say the same thing if Michael & Prince were doing a song together.

I always liked that song and Like A Prayer is in my view Madonna's best album.
