because they want to. do you honestly think there is some sort of deep explanantion or reason on why a company would release a product that maybe you haven't thought of...I mean besides the hope to make money?
whoever said there are no stupid questons obviously never came to the org. this message brought to you by logic.

dumbass said: whoever said there are no stupid questons obviously never came to the org. And clearly the same can be said of assholes, so thanks for proving that. Anyway, make money? This wasn't exactly a chart topper the first go round, you can download it cheaper from his sight, and it's not like they'll be any singles released.

it's probably because there's a renewed interest in prince's back catalog after the success of 'musicology', and with the mess at WB putting lots of his material out of print, it makes it that much easier to notice when an album like TRC is being put back in circulation. it's no big whoop. they're re-releasing NPS, too. probably just a bit of minor wheeling-and-dealing on prince's part to get a couple of his old records back out there. whatevs.

Do you think there might be some changes? Perhaps it'll be void of the narration.

I have noticed TRC in the stores. Question: Does it come with a cardboard CD case or a plastic CD jewel case? I was afraid to buy it in case it was a promo copy like my Musicology CD I got from the concert. "Remember, one man's filler is another man's killer" -- Haystack

it was originally released in the cheap cardboard cover. Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!

Why would anybody even assume a re-release would stand for a complete butchering of the original product? "Hey Prince! We have the rights to one of your older records - we don't like these parts, so can we just take off them? Isn't that a great idea?"

And for the very last time you: digipaks are not "cheap cardboard covers"! They are a luxury format that requires special design and usually their production ends up costing more than a jewelcase design would. Prince has released digipaks as of late because they are the preferred format for most so-called serious music - as opposed to the jewelcases favoured by the teen-pop audience. This is seriously starting to piss me off.

Give me an old fashioned plastic jewel case anyday. Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! Give me an old fashioned plastic jewel case anyday. well, i only half meant that...i was mainly trying to get on nova's nerves. i prefer jewel cases because they ARE cheap. i keep most of my CDs in binders, and so i take the CDs and booklets out of the jewel case, file 'em in my binders, and save the jewel cases for when i make comp CDs for friends. it saves a lot of space...though i haven't dismantled ANY of my prince CDs for binders. still and all, i guess i take a pragmatic approach to collecting music - i don't care so much about having a collectible 'object' as much as i care about having my music well-organized and having my discs in good shape. all of that said, i think digipak CD packaging is SUPPOSED to be fancier or "premium", but really, i gotta be honest - the stuff falls apart. plastic jewel cases, at worst, get scratched or cracked...and they can be replaced easily to make your CD look brand new.

Be careful with that. I've gone without sex for years now, and I am frustrated and angry about any imaginable issue. all of that said, i think digipak CD packaging is SUPPOSED to be fancier or "premium", but really, i gotta be honest - the stuff falls apart.
Sure. But the plastic they are using for the trays is of better quality so they don't break off as often as is the case with jewelcases. Of course I gotta admit that whilst the usage of i.e. recycled or other matte-surfaced cardboard might be more appealing to my aestheticist's eys that format tends to get dirty quite fast. Not even considering the mess if you happen to drop even a small amount of liquid on it - even water. It's ruined.

This is no comment on the question asked, cuz I kind of think it's valid. Who in their right mind would think that TRC would make them money?....Seriously?...Oh...I know...A early rejected contestant on The Apprentice! But as to dumb questions....They're EVERYWHERE! Imagine The day after your lavish wedding to your wife. $10,000 wedding lavish. U have a great day and everything runs smoothly. U kiss the bride, reception runs like a 2005 Caddi. U go home with your new wife and make wonderful whoopie, over and over and over, till U fall asleep. U both wake up the next morning...and your wife asks U if U love her. DUMB QUESTION ALERT! Prince struck a deal to get the masters back for TGE. That is why its out of print. ON digipaks...
they aren't cheaper to make, a lot of artists -Maceo, Ani Di Franco included- have been releasing with a high quality digipak nice booklets, readable liner notes and they are far more ecologically sound than a piece of scratchable plastic..
