I emailed the NPGMC a few days ago in regards concerning

the ONA

cd.....with questions and opinions hoping to look for a

couple answers (not a cryptic sounding one liner they

usually respond with) and someone responded, from how I

read it, very angry towads me.....saying that I was

antagonistic,and that they didn't appreciate my HARSH

tone.....I never used foul language once, I just didn't

beat around the bush about my feelings.....has

anyone else had this kind of run in with the NPGMC feedback

people??

Hmm, no comment on the almost quadruple price of the celebration.....those comments are the way I felt when writing the message.....if I had only asked the question the way you suggested that I should have, I would have gotten one of those cryptic sounding one liners I've gotten from you or whoever in the past.....I've paid my $100 membership fee....bought 4 $125 tickets to 2 shows.....I think Prince has gotten enough of my money for me to earn the right to say what I feel to someone in his orginization.....it's not like he'll ever read this, respond or, even be effected by what I say since personally.
I'm sure he'll never see any of this feedback anyway.....what I'm saying about ripping the fans off comes from the fact that the "one night alone" cd is containing, at the very least, the same songs I have already paid for in year # 1.....I love the music, I just don't want to pay for it twice- once in download from year 1 and again being passed off on cd.(this would not be ripping anyone off?)
I realize it would be new for someone who joined for the 1st time on the 2nd year but, maybe whoever makes those decisions @ NPGMC forgot that members who were there for the 1st year and renewed on the 2nd year already bought those songs....I just hope I'm flooded with so many new songs on 'one night alone' that the previously released tracks are just the tip of the iceberg.....I don't feel I'm being antagonistic at all, why would you feel that way, you're just the hired help, why should you be so 'hurt' by my message.....you get paid to read and reply.....not argue with paying customers/fans/fams....or pick apart my message and tell me the etiquette of email.....Thanks, J. really you need to stay on the positive and polite side in your tone that reflects in every sentence... then you can have a pretty good conversation with them.

but yeah prepare for the criptic messages...

They seemed quite amicable. Maybe you should have asked them more directly and politely.

I appreciate your concern though. They have changed the ONA page now to clarify the matter so maybe someone listened?

yup i've had that kid of response from them. i signed up with the "club" last year. after looking at it, i realized i wasn't really getting much for my money (ok, i was only getting the monthly membership but still). so anyway, i emailed them expalaining that i was wondering if it was possible to get my money back. they emailed back saying that they don't do refunds and may i live to see the dawn. needless to say i was disappointed. they asked me why i wanted my money back and i explained that the service they were providing wasn't very good and it was very slowwwww. i also said that unfortunately, i was going to have to look to the bootleggers for the music. immediately they got crabby and said that it was in God's hands if i wanted to give my money to someone else other than the creator himself. give me a break. p has gotten so selfish. he is doing exactly what he sang against in the song Uptown. in the song he criticized exclusivity and now he is preaching it with his little club and his little celebration. if you asked me he is starting to sound like the "preacher, preacher!" he was singing about in Family Name. hypocrite.

Sounds like someone at the NPGMC was having a bad day.

to be honest: I think NPGMC is right in their emails. You mention the contents of the ONA CD while honestly you have no idea what the CD will be like. And to jump to conclusions that this will be a slap in the face and ripping members off ... well that is rude and harsh toned. Now if you had heard the CD (postman please put it in my mailbox....) and your assumptions are proven to be right, then you may have a point. But it is too soon for complaints, I agree with NPGMC.

The Celebration cost 4 times as much as last year... But wasn't last year celebration $70 for the PP access and the Prince concerts had to be purchased additionally - adding up to $250 as well? And this year performs 7 times!

And lastly we are living in a free market economy. Products are offered and based on demand the price is set. If the Celebration doesn't sell out for $250 it will become cheaper, if the demand excesses the amount of available tickets ... the price will go up.

Jaikman, sorry dude, but you did jump to conclusions without even asking whether what you read or heard was true. I think the npgmc was firm and cordial with you. Yeah, they sound a little ticked off, but they didnt "ATTACK" you, they simply pointed out where you were drew your own conclusions and jumped all over them.

Thanks for running the emails...you left out a little even on your first email to the npgmc from your 2nd note on this thread. I think even you felt you jumped to conclusions and sounded way too defensive.

Wait for the CD, then take it one day at a time...

Jaikman, your words are disrespectuful towards the club,Prince and the employees that answer the emails.

First of all you are complaing about a cd that has not been received by you or any NPGMC members yet. When you look at the link on the NPGMC site, it clearly shows that anyone may listen to samples of 4 songs on the cd. Nowhere does it state that there are only 4 songs or speeches. Please, stop believing every damn thing you read on the org any other place.

As for $125 for a concert ticket, it was well worth it. Prince and his band gave a fantastic performance. I know everyone does not agree with the lyrics as of late,but we all were aware of what was on TRC before deciding to attend one of his concerts. Prince played for 2 hours in most cities. So that is an average of $62.50 per hour of performance. I for one think that Prince and band members are worth that. Let's remember that there are also a lot of other fees to be paid out of that $125 ticket price.

The Celebration cost of $250 is FAIR. Prince is performing for 7 nights,even if he plays only one hour a night it is WORTH it. He is a great performer and puts everything he has into his art. Plus the club members also have the opportunity to listen to other musicians perform during the week. If you are not interested in them, then so be it. I like the idea of having everything at Paisley Park and not at other venues. The only thing I do NOT like is that there are no chairs at PP. You should not compare $70 of last year's Celebration with this years and if you do you are not including the costs of seeing Prince perform at both Xcel concerts. The total for all of that last year was about $270 including handeling fees for the concert tickets.

Learn some patience please. Don't make judgements before you have all of the information, then make a decision.

I'm sorry, but I think the tone of your emails to NPGMC was harsh. I think they responded quite well.

I talked to NPGMC a couple of days ago and they were very friendly (in fact I've never had any problem with them).

Here's some facts to straighten some things out about the upcoming CDs...

One Night Alone IS a full length CD
(that can mean anything from 45 - 75 minutes in length)

Yes, it has more than 4 tracks
(nobody knows exactly how many, most likely to be 10 or more)

NPGMC WILL be posting the complete tracklisting for the CD very shortly.

All other CD's mentioned are merely 'possible' releases.
Everyone should know by now that Prince is constantly working on new material/albums, and therefore often changes his mind about albums and tracklistings right up to the point of release. That is why NPGMC CANNOT (not willnot) confirm anything until the CD's have actually been pressed (& even that's no guarantee, remember the black album?)

I hope that clarifies everything..

with all due respect, i'm not surprised they responded like that. I agree that they should be more forthcoming with information, given the amount of money that people are shelling out for the club, but to start quoting the org or AMP at them is rediculous. I'd be pretty pissed off too, to be honest. Any business would be annoyed at a customer response like that. It's only human. Perhaps you should seek some objectivity before consigning yourself to the realms of stupidity forever on a public board.
