Classic? Yes
Bad ass pimping feel? I don't get that, but to each his own. Are you driving down the street blasting "My Love Is Forever" trying to pimp? Alright then, keep bumping.

While For You had some charming elements (rich arragenements, the smart move to replace horn parts with synths) to me Prince is trying to hard to show what kind of musicial 'wonderchild' he is....But the songs lack real 'soul' and first of all, the album lack good songs, songs that stick in your head, are catchy, the ones you remember....
He fared way better when it comes to that on his second cd Prince. Prince himselve stated afterwards the release of For You, that during his record he was was too perfectionist and did put way too much (sleeping) time into it, he even said: "i am proud of this record, technically its perfect, but it isnt me youre hearing, halve the time i was almost falling asleep"

i don't believe half the things Prince says and he doesn't either... he was just being a braggart. For You has some awesome stuff and is one of those albums I can enjoy all the way through without skipping a track. classic, yes

It's not bad. Just derivative stuff that he eclipsed with his next album and onward. The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

I think For You is classic. All around great record, but I prefer Prince. Did you order a pizza ma'am? Prince- UTCM
