If P's next album focused on one genre of music, what type do you most want? Part of what I like about Prince is that most albums contain a range of musical styles. A single song alone can tap into 2 or 3 genres. Given the choice however, I want some grade A,uncompromised,in yo' face FUNK!!!

I want some kick ass electric guitar.
Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!

Whatever he plays, it's got to be FUNKY!!!!! NEW WAVE FOREVER: SLAVE TO THE WAVE FROM THE CRADLE TO THE GRAVE.

Although I wouldn't mind him playing some Hard Rock, or Electro-Pop or New Wave either. Fans like me miss that. NEW WAVE FOREVER: SLAVE TO THE WAVE FROM THE CRADLE TO THE GRAVE.

Some guitar driven, anthemic numbers wouldn't go amiss.
I'm also hoping the rumoured acoustic album may come out - though it's looking less and less likely. Everybody is special. Everybody. Everybody is a hero, a lover, a fool, a villain. Everybody. Everybody has their story to tell.

I hope for:
- either some dark, creepy electrofunk like the camille tracks, or the songs on the Black Album - some psychedelic, orchestrated, but at the same time catchy popbliss as during the around the world in a day / parade era

A nice blend of Dirty Mind, 1999 & the Black Album. Throw in a little Erotic City 2

Nice combo but that around 1,000 different genres. You can only pick one.

The type of funk album I want...
Lady Cab Driver-like opener.(This funk is best described as "street".Hip and nasty drum beat, boogie in your booty bass, old school scratch guitar and an urgent, falsetto voice that sounds both guilty and innoscent at once.I want a lengthy track that climaxes with guitar vs bass duel that simmers down as the music fades away) Sexuality-like funk is next. A want another punk/funk hybrid political statement to explode on the scene next.Something that can't help but to command attention.Whether you believe Prince's beliefs or not, I want something that will wake the dead. Dead On It-like funk would be the third cut. Stripped down, laid back but undisputed funk just the same.Somethin' to bob your head to.You might wanna strike a gangsta lean.I'm not saying it should be addressing his feelings on today's hip hop culture but that could be cool. The Question of U-like funk. Something that tastes quirky, sensual and bluesy all in the same pot . Brilliance that slithers in as easily as it slithers out. Extra Lovable-like funk. I'd love to hear a pop funk song with single potential. That uptempo 80's electro style jam that stays or your brain for hours. Hide the Bone-like funk. It's time for that uncompromised, in your face, grade A funk that I mentioned.Something to make you thank the Lord the day he decided to create bass. That would only be the first half! Personally I'd like some electro-funk.
I can dig ballads, but no more sappy carbon copies (Insatiable, Call My Name) - horns and strings are OUT, and heavy on the synths and guitars. Will we see this? No, but this is an 'If' thread. Don't worry, I can't get pregnant - my ovaries are diseased......

Perhaps I'm alone in this, but I'd like him to continue the jazz experience he started with the ONA tour. For goodness sakes, he's got Greg Boyer, Maceo, and Rhonda Smith, and Renato...Use that awsome power!! Occupy Alphabet Street!

I want synths/experimental and a removal of traditioinal instruments. Tired of the throwback vibe.

But... His been doing that for years now. He ain't done no proper rock since 1993, so I say it's way past time for some more rock. FREE THE 29 MAY 1993 COME CONFIGURATION!

Some hard hitting, dirty, nasty, greasy funk. I want some funk that would get the clubs jumping so hard they'd go through the roof. I also agree with vainandy, heavy on the synths and little to no horns for once. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Synth lines, heavy guitar, and a mix of Linn work and live drums. I want him to go back to an organic Prince sound, not organic/traditional soul and funk. In other words, no horns. [Edited 4/17/05 21:52pm]
