The only truly RUDE thing u said was when u called them "the hired help", which while technically true, is just plain insulting and not likely to get you very far ANYWHERE, NPGMC or otherwise.

I don't know if it is in response to this emale that you sent, but the last time I checked, NPGMC added a small-print line that reads: "+ many more tracks on the CD". This is located under the tracks that you can click on for listening samples. I had not noticed it being there before yesterday.

No, Jaikman, I've never had a run-in with NPGMC where they were rude. In fact, the only connection beyond the norm I had was when they emailed me to tell me they corrected an error in my account and credited me money.

Anyway, like I suspected, you overstate NPGMC's response and understate your own over-the-top antagonism.
Come on, what ground do you have to stand on when you haven't even received the CD yet? How seriously are they supposed to take you? You sounded like another fanatic that takes everything Prince does WAY TOO PERSONALLY.

I'm not saying there are no legitimate questions. But, like others said, there are much more effective ways to "ask'' your questions.
You got what you gave. When you come at people rudely, you deserve to be treated likewise. It looks to me like they merely met you where you were at and hopefully left you with food for thought about how you talk to people.

Hey, u asked, right? wink

I am not a club member.
I think the complainer jumped to conclusions and was accusing.
I think the responder was unprofessional and rude in return.

If Prince wants to carry this enigmatic persona/image about him that is one thing. Leave all the cryptic talk in his song lyrics, his liner notes, his concerts, his interviews, etc.
We've all come to expect it as the Prince mystique.
But when you have a business, a corporation-whatever-the people who work for you need to function and operate in the real world with their feet on the ground. All the crazy cryptic Prince-speak when dealing with customers needs to be done away with completely. Say what they mean and mean what they say. If they don't know something then say so. Just be for real with customers and answer any questions they have when possible, as any other legitimate business venture does.
When they can deal with their paying customers in this fashion, it will save them a lot of future problems and help to maintain and even expand their business. When customers are satisfied they're sure to come back and support you, and to recommend that others patronize the business.

This 'club' thing still all seems a silly idea to me, the fact that now they send out CD's is rediculous really, just press up 20,000 cd's and sell them on the internet site like any normal artist would do.
I bet one of the 4 Cd's this year will be a re-recorded greatest hits package as well (now that would be a fun day on this site).
Access to soundchecks ..... that's a great idea, but why not just sell tickets for that as well, I can't see myself going to many soundchecks living in London.
And they say they don't have the track-list for the CD yet, but you should check your mail box..... come on please, sort it out !!.
I would love to join the club but it seems even more of a shambles than last year, so I'll wait for a release in the shops and download anything interesting.

TheMax said:

Well, of course for that steep $100 membership fee you would also expect him to pick up your hotel, travel, and food charges as well.

I think you're confused about who is responsible to shelter, feed, and entertain you. Membership in the NPGMC Club gives you, at a minimum, access to great seating at performances and 4 CD's. The rest you have to pay for. If you're spending too much for Prince-related activities, you have no one to blame but yourself.

How can you possibly function in every day life with such a warped view of personal responsibility, value, and hard work?

As far as the value of Prince's work, I'm willing to bet that you've accomplished comparatively little in the past 5 months, but for some reason I suspect you still want to get paid for your services - whatever they possibly could be.

Okay, TheMax, you just seem to forget one important point: We're thousands of NPGMC members and Prince fans outside the USA and we don't get the chance to see our favourite musical artist from the front rows or go to his celebration. Well, okay we are - if we can take weeks off from our jobs and spend thousands of dollars in plane tickets and hotel bills. So for us the cd's and downloads from the NPGMC is quite important. And after five months and still no cd, still no new downloads (Silicon is from last years club, remember) we're maybe beginning to be a little bit impatient or anxious... that's all.

TO BE HONEST I THINK NPGMC JUST GET A LITTLE EMBARASSED ABOUT HOW POOR THE SERVICE IS SOMETIMES - THEN THEY LASH OUT.

For example it took over 10 months for me to receive my copy of Rave In2 last year.....4 months longer than my bestfriend who joined 3 months after I had. When I wrote to them and asked they basically accused me of lying and said they thought I was just trying to get another CD out of them. I also got charged $100 twice last year...something else they didnt beleive so I was asked to send a copy of my Visa Card statement to them for proof.rolleyes

The thing is I think Prince has all these crazy ideas of how things would work in his perfect world but he employs other people and asks them to promise the impossible.....and they get the brunt of members anger redface

As for ripping people off it does sometimes seem that was especially last year...I mean part of teh deal was new videos every month and a world tour....as everyone outside the USA will know ,that part of the deal was never kept.

THis year has been great so far....as long as I dont have a repeat of the Rave CD fiasco cry

Now THIS is comedy.....you call yourself dumbass and have this signature yet want to extoll the virtues of control while conveying ones feelings? Based on your tagline, you convey well.

ROFLMAO.....so this means you touch your mother with the same fingers that typed that???

But as far as the email from NPGMC, there was a time that customer service reps weren't allowed to communicate with customers that way. And Jaikman isn't the only person that thinks the Club is not a bargain for everyone. Would the club say that to a member from Europe who has not had the opportunity to go to a show? I really hope not.

And though it's true Prince is playing 7 nights, there is NO VENUE COST to justify that increase. I know electricity isn't THAT high in Chanhassen. Why is it that Prince can play for $7 any other time at Paisley? The state of the economy in America is BAD. And it *appears* that there will be less music delivered than last year, no schedule as to when music will be released, or goodies like the videos. I think the 'slap in the face' comment may be valid.

And just to revisit, it's bad business practice to treat your customers badly. It's almost like, you've paid you're dues, there's no need to recruit you anymore. It was presented as being a part of a Free Music Revolution, well, there's not much free about it....not even the artist that are being invited....hmmm, I think I need to start a thread about that.....

And I, personally, have been saying for at least 2 years that it seems Prince is bleeding the Tribe: he wants US to bring new heads to the shows, he wants US to find new members for the Club. He also wants US to pay the highest amount possible for the PURE, JOYOUS, PLEASURE of his talents.

Hell, they won't even make a Couples' Membership for the freaks that are married and SHARE a computer, that's just not cool, IMHO.

So flame away, but I think that we have all made some consessions with dealing with the Club that we do NOT make in everyday life. And we do not hold them to service standards we expect and/or DEMAND elsewhere.

When Zaza finishes licking zazas own ass.. (gee! what R U all afraid of then?) Business is business.. you ass lickers will still be tonguing each other when the BBB gets another series of complaints (they have a history)about NPGMCs follies as the weeks go on and on..

You should know that we were VERY successful with the BBB during year one and they were very helpful in solving a problem that the NPGMC turned its back on. When the BBB got wind of our problem.. NPGMC fixed it instantly. Thats what its there for. I keep wondering why you're trying to discourage consumers from satisfaction.

I'll speak in simple terms so you understand as you seem unable to grasp concepts. the name dumbass and the signature that goes along with it have nothing to do with being able to control one's emotions (I'm sorry, was the word "emotion" too many sylables for you to understand?).

being crass has nothing to do with being able to control one's emotions.

Hey Dumbass,

1. Thank you for having that handle so I could start the post that way.

2. There's no need for that pseudo-Mr. Rogers tone as I do understand concepts. I have no problem with syllables either. When attempting to be pompous, the spell check really is in order...

The *discussion* was about email(read Internet communication) thus the presentation of self thru the Cyber medium. The handle dumbass (biting lip as I move past that) and the tagline are YOUR conveyed identity with this list. Unless someone looks at your profile, that is all that is known about you.

So the comedy lies in the fact that, by your own action (read choice of handle and tagline), you are either: 1. a child trying to scold an adult or 2. an adult not displaying the emotional self control you are loftily speaking on. To me that is comedy.

I made NO assumptions on the person behind what was conveyed, I just laughed at the method (read words) used.

Being crass for no reason is an example of the lack of self-control over the emotion that an individual could and should be able to convey better. That you would in your statement have verification that you yourself don't hold self control when communicating in high regard is funny to me.

I think you are not grasping my concepts, and I doubt you shall. I've broken it down as much as I can. Alas, maybe I'm too cerebral for you.

My sister said I started a fight with what I wrote you, that was not my intent. I was jus' sayin (letters removed for flavor).

I have no beef with you, D, just thought since you were so freely writing checks, you could cash one as well. Either way IAG (it's all good).

Alright then RoRo...you up next.

No matter how harsh the people r, they need 2 respond like a business, NOT like individuals taking shit personally. Thats the way things should run.
