NPGMC tracks on iTunes Music Store...

Good idea or bad?

The good:
Available to wider audience (not everyone who likes Princes music know about the NPGMC

Far superior interface for browsing and purchasing music

Prince himeself would likely make more $$$ in the long run (which seems to be what he really cares about lately)

    Directly playable on the iPod

The bad:
Tracks are still lossy, and at a lower bit rate

Presentation of the tracks would be just like everyone else

No discount for members - though he could still offer the tracks through his website

What do you all think? Has this been discussed on the NPGMC boards?

Personally, I'm all for it. I believe it'd be a wise move for the man, even going so far as to say he should do something like U2 did in support of the iTMS (though w/o the ugly special edition iPod). Though I don't purchase lossy music as a general rule, I do drink Pepsi... wink

DEFINITELY good idea! I love itunes. Actually, I find their sound quality (desptie the lower bitrate) far superiour 2 other legal downloading services like "Napster"
Listen to me on The House of Pop Culture podcast on itunes http://itunes.apple.com/u...d438631917

i don't see the point, as time goes on the npgmc gets more press and therefore no doubt more visitors anyway, he might get more "sales" but his profit per sale would be down, and i think that bothers him more than sales.
