Although, you can make a case for "Until you're in My Arms (Again) from New Power Soul.... Betcha was not written by Prince. It was done by the Stylistics. So this should not be counted. As for with you. That is an excellent song, please keep in mind when you critique someones art. You cannot gauge it with everything they have created. His second cd "Prince" is one of his best although not my favorite one,(that would be "dirty mind"). It is funny though, Prince has over 23 cd's And everyone all ways jumps on his first and second cd's as if they're his 10th or 12th cd. You want sap try the slow crappy love song from New power soul Until U're In My Arms again. You are correct in your statement about the song "Betcha By-Golly Wow". It was a remake so it really should not be counted...I mentioned it because I remembered when it came out in November of 1997, I had a hard time grasping how THAT could be the first video for an album that was being hyped so much at the time ....I guess we do agree on "Until You're in my Arms (Again)...

As soon as i read the topic, i thought, 'Arms of Orion'...Prince tried to follow the formula for hits-makers too closely on that one. Of course, it was on Batman, which was intended to sell records, but damn.....maybe he should have given it to Celine, since it sounds like her type of song. Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind. | |

"Arms of Orion" gets that honor from me.
This sounds like a by-the-numbers song written for some big animated Disney project. You know, the kind of songs that win the Oscar almost every year there is a big animated Disney feature film. Fortunately for me I don't find very many Prince songs to be sappy. Although I think he does have several sappy lines here and there scattered throughout various songs. Brendan | |
