Then he pushes himself back onto his feet and starts some frantic playing. At no point in this whole section does his guitar play any notes that you can't clearly see him play on screen. I think you must be watching a dodgy copy of the show where the sound isn't synched up properly, cuz on my copy there's no disrcepancy between what you see and what you hear. | |

Ach, I don't doubt that Prince probably pre-recorded stuff at different concerts. In the 80s, 90s and lately, many people have done it. I only have a problem with it when you are flat out lip synching the whole show because you just flat out "can't sang" and your voice isn't strong enough to handle a large sized auditorium or you're show is overreliant on dance moves and it would render you too out of breath to sing. We all know Prince can play guitar so who cares if he fakes a guitar solo here and there.

I gotta agree with Boris on this. I just watched the segment in question a bunch of times, and first of all, you can't even see a noticeable change in his facial expression that "gives it away." After he bounces his right hand up to hit a note, he's leaning back on it again while the note sustains and distorts a bit. As he brings his hand back up and starts to stand up, you maybe hear a second note before his hand gets there, which could have easily been a pull-off or hammer-on. | |
