Prince tracks that could've been for The Time I was thinking 'what Prince tracks would sound great sung by Morris?' - What tracks, released by Prince would have worked as The Time tracks?
I thought of Movie Star (obviously) - and also Partyman, I can just imagine Morris singing those lyrics, full of bravado. International Lover is another given since it was recorded for What Time Is It? Anyone think of any others? Don't worry, I can't get pregnant - my ovaries are diseased......

I've always thought the song "Electric Man" (often played on the Nude Tour) should have been fleshed out and given to The Time. Do not hurry yourself in your spirit to become offended, for the taking of offense is what rests in the bosom of the stupid ones. (Ecclesiastes 7:9)

It's funny you say that - I remember asking here a long time ago if anyone else remembers reading Partyman was intended for The Time, and I don't think anyone knew at the time - I can't remember where I read it, but I wouldn't even consider it if it hadn't been in print or from a reputable source (i.e. it wasn't someone on a message board who said it). I remember reading it was first written in 1985/6 for UTCM, but seeing as that is totally false, I assumed the, The Time comment was too. i got one in reverse.
instead of giving "data bank" to the time, prince needed to keep that track for himself the revolution's version is MUCH better. "school's in!.. teacher got a funky bass. you didn't come to turn it out get yo frail ass out my face..."

Maybe not musically, but lyrically, Prettyman could've been sung by Morris Day. I'm the first mammal to wear pants.

I've always heard that he wrote "Partyman" for The Time (although I never heard it was written in 85/86). I'll have to look into that. "Movie Star", "International Lover" and "Prettyman" were all definitely orignally intended for Morris to sing.
