1999 -- very innovative, energetic, funky
Parade-- colorful, great musicianship, perfect vibe The Gold Experience-- Shhh! Also rans: Sign of the Times is less an album then it is a collection of great songs. Purple Rain as great as it was is a lesser album than 1999 but obviously the movie tie-in helped immensely. TRC is musically on par with Parade, perhaps better, and it is his most cohesive album (until he veers off into Family Name which is somewhat relevent but not necessary for the story he was telling). However, it doesn't make me feel as good as Parade does. Lovesexy, on the other hand is a very feel-good album with a few musically weak tracks. I still love it though. I'll mention The Truth album as well because it was damn good |

Hmmmm... that's tough. Dirty Mind is overrated to me though.
This is truly a really tough choice though, and only reflects what I like at the moment. Sign O' the Times Lovesexy Parade Honorable mentions go to Gold because I normally love this album but haven't listened to it in a while. "Knowledge is preferable to ignorance.
