Ok, if we're claiming vicarious credit: he's also Jewish and lived in Israel from age 13-15. He's dueted with successful Israeli artist David Broza. So razz

up to one minute just prior to their Grammy performance, 95% of the people who cared that Prince was opening the show log on to Prince.org. Of course it was his body of music that won the crowd over and it is his body of music that has allowed him to have one his best damn years ever. What Beyonce did was bridge the gap between older music fans and newer, younger fans, much like Chris Rock as being host last night. She was the perfect muse to him that night and it made him a lot more "hip" to younger people

And meltwithu, I have to add that I watch the video of that Grammy performance all the time (like every week), and I am always blown away by the life Beyonce breathed into these old classics.

I mean Prince is bored with these songs, but knows people wants to hear them, so he obliges. The way Beyonce belts out "It's such a shame our friendship had to end" and other lines on Purple Rain made the rendition the most powerful i've ever heard. Sincerly, Prince doesn't give a good emotional reading of these very sensitive lines in PR. Whenever I listen the the album version of Purple Rain (the song) I always wish the vocal delivery was not so monotonous.

Also, the way Beyonce was dancing around him and screaming during his end guitar solo -- she recalled the charisma of Vanity, Mayte, and Apples altogether. Prince clearly responded to that and was in a great vibe with her.

P.S. ... I hope the hobnobbing is giving Prince the energy to create some kick-ass music. He needs some stimuli as all geniuses do. Their spirits have to be rekindled and I hope being around other artists whether in film, music, .whatever inspires him into another ether.

What drugs are you taking. You really think P could not have pulled those performances off without Beyonce. Come On the whole theme of that Grammies was putting older artist with new artist. That is the only reason she was up there with him.

and nobody under 30 would have even cared..just like most people over 30 could have cared less about this year's opening acts. We all know Prince is #1 around here, but some of ya'll act like he's been on top of the world the last few years, which he hasn't. Nobody is saying Beyonce made the performance any better, from a Prince fan's standpoint anyway, but she damn sure made a lot more people get into the pre-hype of it. Stop hating.
you look better on your facebook page than you do in person hmph!

So if Prince has showed his face without Beyonce all of the Grammy viewers under the age of 30 would have turned off there T.V's.(LOL) Maybe you don't realize this but people over the age of 30 do buy records. In we are a part of the Baby Boom Generation. There are millions of us.

I am not hating on Beyonce. I think she is a mediocore as a singer and is getting to much hype. She is just okay as a performer. She is not on P's level and doubt if she ever will be. Ever few years or so the music industry picks someone to hype and they don't live up to it. I hope this is not the case with Beyonce but it could happen.

Really Jill Scott has more talent than Beyonce. It's hype.

Next you will be saying people only came out to the concerts because they expected Beyonce to show up.

Well, actually I AM saying Beyonce made the performance better.

And no where did I say PRince couldn't pull off the performance without her ... so I'm not going to debate that comment from someone who obviously just wants to rant.

Anyway, you know Krid, I actually don't get bored with that performance lol

It's in my Windows Media Player and very easy to access. Plus, it's only a few minutes long ... once a week is not a lot to me. I mean I used to loop some prince songs for days and listen to them 1,000 times....

I Watch that clip of Prince performing at the Grammy's too. I have it in my media player too! It gives me goose bumps because it's like here's Prince exactly 20 years later opening up the Grammy's with Purple fucking Rain and I'm thirteen years old again having my first french kiss with Jenny Meade..... It's like the good times never ended. This whole past year was was like 1984 relived. seeing prince on the cover of so many magazines again was great. I heard he was making another movie, going to be filmed in france again. This true?

Well that is your opinion but, I think you may be alone on that one. She is just a pretty girl on the stage. A mere stage prop in that performance.
P did the same performance on Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame and it went over pretty good with Beyonce.

another thing, younger generations, and older 1's 2, now looking back, thinks the 80's was the whackest times yet2 date. Prince was still riding wings of Purple rain which is 80's all tha way. No-body but us really cared2 hear his newer stuff. So when this generations princess beyonce came out doing purple rain, it made everybody happy. look how many new folkz have jumped on band wagon since that night....outstanding.....
may meekness, and peace follow u where ever u may go...
