Could ATWIAD and PARADE have been combined to make one killer album??? I have always thought that ATWIAD was released too soon after Purple Rain and that Parade was released too soon after ATWIAD. However, if you comibined the two you could create one monster of a record.

Despite the fact that they were released so closely, I think that each album definitely retains its own identity too well to combine them. Both albums are wildly diverse, both have a psychadelic vibe, and both found Prince experimenting with new sounds. I think the similarities end there, though. ATWIAD, even with the title cut and Raspberry Beret is a dark sounding album. The album seems world-weary and despairing.
Parade, on the other hand is a fairly light hearted affair; sure you have "Sometimes it Snows in April" closing out the album, but the rest of it captures that Paris-in-spring vibe so well. The entire album has a joy de vivre about it that ATWIAD just doesn't. I think a more convincing argument could be made about a Lovesexy/Black Album double disc; despite being polar opposites thematically, the album could've been a CD/LP version of the Lovesexy tour. Light and dark; good and evil. I'm the first mammal to wear pants.

No way. "Parade" is a masterpiece on it's own and ATWIAD is a good
album in it's own right as well. Although, I do sometimes feel that Around the world in a Day could have been a much stronger album, had Prince chosen to include the b-sides "Girl" and "She's Always In My Hair". Possibly the original "4 the tears in Ur Eyes" as well. where the sun dont ever shine i will shiver the whole night through

I was pissed with "Around The World In A Day" when it first came out but I eventually ended up liking all the tracks on the album. I can't say the same for "Parade". Combining the two would ruin "Around The World In A Day". Andy is a four letter word.

"Hello" would be cool too

Yea, combining ATWIAD and Parade would sound really awkward. Aside from them both being psychadelic, they have little in common. The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

I still think if Prince released "Dream Factory" it would've been his best album to date. "The little 1 will escort u 2 the places within ur mind"

I wouldn't include the extended "America" because it is simply too long and would take the flow out of the cd [Edited 2/27/05 8:37am] where the sun dont ever shine i will shiver the whole night through

I like them the way they are, but if I were 2 make an album 2 span 1985-1986, it would be....
1. Around The World In A Day 2. Christopher Tracy's Parade 3. New Position 4. Raspberry Beret 5. She's Always In My Hair 6. I Wonder U 7. Kiss 8. Pop Life 9. Under The Cherry Moon 10. Alexa De Paris 11. Girls And Boys 12. Life Can Be So Nice 13. Sometimes It Snows In April 14. Paisley Park 15. Alexa De Paris 16. America Actually I think I'm going 2 make a CD out of that. It's goin' down y'all.

OMG! As much as I was prepared to say "hell no!" to this ridiculous question, I kinda like your tracklist
But I like them individually as they are - do NOT fuck w/ Parade
