I created a similar thread last night but it got jacked. This isn't meant to provoke anyone, but to discuss a new issue.

In all seriousness, I wonder how he would react to weed, LSD, shrooms, datura, morning glory, good absinthe, etc. Some of the greatest music came out of drug use, so it would be interesting to see what would happen to Prince and his music. Would the music be more experimental, darker, totally nuts, who knows?

Personally, I'd like to see him try LSD and continue drinking absinthe throughout production of an album. I think it could be awesome.

I cant see it happening, but would be great to experience.. shame though, huh?

Well, the story goes that he scrapped the "Black" album and recorded Lovesexy after an X trip. This has been corroborated by several people who were in his inner circle at the time.

Its also rumoured that he was doing some light experimentation with drugs during the Come/Exodus/Gold era. Nothing too heavy, just pot, acid and whatnot. Don't know if its true, but it would certainly explain a few things!

Maybe he should take drugs..on a professional level only

I've always heard Method Man and others say that they wrote their best stuff when they were high on some good Hawaiian product. Ya never know, I guess. I'd like to know if anyone out there who's Prince's age gets a creative boost from drugs. Maybe you could start some sort of research project .

Prince feels he's nothing left to prove--and he really doesn't have ANYTHING left to prove. But now, what does he have to offer in light of this?

If it was to happen, I'd lock the bugger in a studio with an awsome array of heavy amps, guitars and some crazy old analogue synths, get the hole lot on a DAT tape and go sample the best bits and make some DJ Shadow/James Lavelle type crazy shit ... hmmm ... I'd get Morris Day in on the project too... him and Syd Barret.

You're right, he has nothing left to prove. I think at this point he's just trying to have fun and make money. He doesn't have that hunger or frustration that helps create good music. It's cool that he's happy, but it seems the music can suffer from it. Plus I think he's just blocked. He's produced so much music that his well has run dry. Basically, he just needs a new state of mind if he's gonna impress anyone with new material.
