How in the world did this thread get in2 a "lipsynching match-up". At some point in their careers, they've both lipsynched. We all know what they can do, so why does that even matter now? Case closed.

David Z, one of Prince's old engineers, witnessed Mike & Prince playing ping-pong (circa 1986). Mike didn't know how 2 play, and Prince took full advantage of it.
razz Mike gracefully bowed out in defeat. Prince said after he left, "Did u see that? He played like Helen Keller". They've both kept alot of video footage over the years, I hope they captured this moment.

I never understood the whole Prince vs. MJ situation. I think the media played that up WAY TOO MUCH.

Now on the other hand, the Prince vs Rick James situation was very real, their styles and music were very similar, and their egos were huge.

As for Prince and MJ, both of them are so private, that they probably have met each other on numerous occasions, but have purposely avoided the public and the media, they're not stupid. Can you imagine the media take on their friendship? The media would go insane with that, the "gay" issue. They probably talked about that. So I think they are good friends and respect each other, but cannot work with each other, they really don't need to work with each other anyway.

I understand your points. but i seriously doubt they are good friends or friends at all. not only do they have a history of making little stabs at each other, Like Princes comment about the Bad situation on VH1 and MJ's Reaction to the Purple Rain movie, But I think there respect is musically and that is where it stops.

.....i've said it B4 & i say it again: Prince & Mike have a prepubescent animosity that goes back to their 1st meeting...if these 2 guys gave N2 the illusion of competition they've had it N 4 one another from jump!!! there was some interview or quote from Sharon (Nelson=1 of P's siblings) about how they wanted 2 B a performing family=a la Jacksons, Sylvers, etc. but brotha Prince was looking @ a solo venture...since both of them came out n the same year (1958) mayB that's where all this stuff comes from cool

Apart from the James Brown thing, i can't think of them ever being present together at an event or award show since.

or have they? confuse
As much as they both say they would talk to each other they wont.I beleave its because of the world compairing the 2 of them that made it that way.

I think it's a good question. I think they've been present at the same Grammy awards once or twice, but for the most part they duck each other.

No seriously, I don't think the will be friends.... I mean, Prince (at the time) was all about sex, and Michael jackson NOT!

And that is just one example!

Prince turned down the bad duet, and that wasn't for nothing.....

I think it is a shame though, I'd like to see 2 of these great ones of music performing together...

He turned down the bad vid because prince knew he was the badest sure nuff.

But in response to your question, I think Prince and MJ do avoid each other in public. I don't know. Just think about it. How would it have looked if both of them were present at....let's say the 1984 American Music Awards? Just wouldn't have been right. As bad as it sounds, being a huge fan of both of them, I can't even imagine them talking to each other in public. The image would be awkward.

Yeah, that was a historic nite. Prince and MJ were together. Both at the public height of their careers at that moment.

Of course P doesn't like Mike, that's like 2 divas falling in love with eachother. Prin said that Michael was a plant(spy) sent by himself.

But one important no gotherther between the artists was when Mike asked Prince to be the other guy in Bad. Prince declines so the bad guy was played by Wesely Snipes.
Working up a purple sweat.

Just wanted to say P also lipsynched sometimes , be it on tv performances only

Please P fans are dillusional they don't want to de-Sanctify him by mentioning "Lip Sync"

HERETICS!!!!!

I'm not saying Prince hasn't lip synched on TV. However, you would never go to a Prince concert and see him lip synch a whole set of songs. With MJ you would. Not saying it's right or wrong-just saying that's how it is.
